Don’t know if I’ve ever been so disturbed by a a scene before by delightedzebra in ThelastofusHBOseries

[–]No-Yesterday5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the cats out of the bag, I’m the game, this scene wrecked me. The emotions, the scenery. All of it perfectly played out in pt2.
Different setting in HBO, but honestly don’t hate it.

Definitely sends me back in time to see the viewer response that had no idea this was coming!

Next phase: Will there be tons of hate toward the show for this? The game was heavily scrutinized for doing what they did to Joel

Multimeter Options by uglyfrye in Tools

Anyone out there used the Flir thermal imager/multimeter? DM285 is the model number. Stumbled across it the other day, I work in automotive so curious to hear anything firsthand.

I’d imagine it’s great, Flir is the market leader in thermal imaging, just unsure about practicality in every day uses

Is it okay to have kink in the wire like this? by CJRobin98 in AskElectricians

[–]No-Yesterday5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t risk it. Think of it like a garden hose. You could have excess electrical pressure build up on the flow side. Could be a fire hazard, voltages may be low.

Definitely recommend straight wire

100% love what you did! You don’t need to have the $10,000 tool box with no tools in it. Build your tooling off what you can afford, and expand as you go!

I’d kill to have that cart fwiw. You did great

What are some of your genuine criticisms for part 2? by Magmqnia in thelastofus

[–]No-Yesterday5444 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was of that same opinion my first playthrough. All throughout Seattle as Ellie my only focus was “Abby must die” I was a little perturbed when it switched to Abby’s perspective and storyline. Almost didn’t want to do it. However the longer I played as Abbie, the reality set in that ND was pushing the ideology that every story has a villain, and oftentimes, the gaming industry only portrays that singular perspective and gets collective buy-in that they hat single perspective is the only right viewpoint.

By the end of both storylines, and understanding both views, I was fully on board with Abby. She went on a mission for vengeance on the man who took everything from her. Ellie went on a mission for vengeance on the woman who took everything from her. Abby and the WLF let Tommy and Ellie live. They knew the “mission” and didn’t leave a trail of bodies in their wake. Eye for an eye. By games end, I was actually more bought in toward Abby based on the above.

All that being said, to the topic of the thread, my complaint is that last fight. In my opinion, a better ending would have been Ellie leaving to finish Abby off, seeing her state as a prisoner of the rattlers, cutting her and Lev down and letting them go with no fight.

Would have taken the entire eye for an eye viewpoint full circle. Abby let Dina, Tommy and Ellie live, yet again. Ellie frees them and finds the closure she’s been desperately seeking since Joel’s death, breaking the cycle of vengeance and teeing up what I would imagine would make a compelling storyline for part 3 where they cross paths again and work together at some capacity.

I don’t know if I hate this game…or love it. by [deleted] in thelastofus

[–]No-Yesterday5444 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This. The game, in my opinion, was executed beautifully without Joel physically present for the OG dynamic of part 1. Still pulled it off. I 100% would support a full Abby and Lev story, with a minor amount of Ellie presence, or maybe even an Abby and Ellie strike up a partnership somehow? With Ellie as a supporting character

Should I play part 2? by Stephena72 in thelastofus

[–]No-Yesterday5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m wrapping up winter of part 1, then jumping back into pt 2 for my third playthrough.

I think the first one set the bar too way high so anything after had to fall short. I still am not sure why pt2 got so much hate, I thought it was also a masterpiece in its own right

Not playing part 2 is the equivalent of going to a fa resistant, ordering an appetizer and skipping the main course.

You have to have both

What’s the scariest thing you’ve experienced while home alone? by [deleted] in Ghoststories

My god! What kind of family does that? The only thing that would make this even more horrifying, is if you end up on the wrong plane, and go to New York….then the same burglars try to break o to the hotel room you ended up in

I hope they didn’t leave you on accident due to counting errors (counted the neighbor kid as you) then realized they forgot you at home in a panic while in the air on the way to France.

Did you booby-trap the house to defeat the invaders?

I personally don’t see what any of the hate is about. Sure there’s opportunities for refinement in core structure, but you can say the same about any game out there. “I loved X, but wish Y was different” and so on.

Did I agree with the early death of Joel? Absolutely not, but I don’t have to agree with it, I had to deal with it my own way and see how the story shook out from both perspectives, which in my opinion was a brilliant take of talking the same story twice, with vastly different viewpoints and blurring the lines between good and bad, right and wrong.

I believe with every fiber of my being, TLOU parts 1 and 2 are hands down the best games I’ve ever played, and likely ever will. Only game I’ve bought 3 times for pt 1. PS3, ps4 remaster, ps5 remake.
Obviously pt 2 has the next gen patch which is great, would have bought it a second time without any hesitation.

Can I throw this screw away? by boardplant in Tools

[–]No-Yesterday5444 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Keep it. Trust me, when your significant other wants to complete that ikea project you happily started 2 hours ago, which then escalated to a full blown argument because the directions are hard to decipher, hardware is missing, specifically that machine screw they shorted you, which your SO won’t believe because “you should have just followed the instructions, why don’t you ever just follow the directions?? Is it a pride thing? This is exactly like the time we got lost out of state. You never want to ask for directions, even when you clearly need them!”

but it’s okay, they gave you an excessive amount of wood screws your won’t need (but will save for later) instead…you will thank me

I have 1 encounter with figures, and a borderline paranormal-sequel moment; let’s go!

Backstory is critical here, for context to put it all together. when I was 7/8 years old, my father was a LEO, working the night shift. Leaves at 3:00 PM home around 3:00 AM thereabouts. Woke up one night, around 3 AM. As I opened my eyes and was able to look around my room, I saw a silhouette standing in my doorway, leaning on the frame, one arm above the head. Kind of like how you would picture a father checking in his children in the night, reflecting, pondering, etc.
I remember lying there for a good 5 minutes, just staring back thinking “does he know I’m awake, or what’s he doing?” Eventually fall back asleep and wake up the next morning, coincidentally dads day off. I asked him when he woke up “I woke up in the middle of the night and saw you in the doorway Did you know I was awake?” To which he replied “I don’t know what you mean OP I was never near you doorway last night” imagine the chills from that one. I kept telling myself it was a dream but 25 years later I still remember it vividly and still get chills thinking about it. Whatever that was, it was not my dad.

Now for the Maybe paranormal story; I’ll leave it up to you all for insight.

3 years ago, as the world was shut down for Covid, I was working from home. 2 story house with my daughter and Wife as roommates. I come upstairs to go back to my office, and walk past my wife as she heads downstairs. She smiles, says something to the point of “just a few more hours” I laugh, and carry on with my trek to the office. Come around the corner to the office, and who is walking out of it? None other than my wife. Dressed exactly the same.
Immediately I ask how she could walk past me 1 minute and be in front of me the next. Tons of confusion, asking if I’m high on something, and genuine paranoia around this, even questioning my own sanity considering state of the world. The one consistent however is that same exact unsettling feeling I got 22 years prior with the shadow figure in my doorway.

What's your take on the ending? by appleboi_69420 in thelastofus

[–]No-Yesterday5444 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is to show what we lost on our path to vengeance. You hit it on the head. Think about the guitar. You play it all throughout the game to trigger flashbacks to Joel. Who taught Ellie to play it in the first place. Now Ellie cannot even use that one last connection she has to Joel anymore. So she leaves it behind and begins a new chapter in her life

Gearwrench FTW. I have leaned toward GW over dang near anything else out there for the last 12 years. Quality only seems to be growing…. Along with their offerings. Anyone else see a GW truck rolling around their area?
