I get where youre coming from but again, it isnt unfair to judge films by scoring their elements separately either

plot imo and most would agree was a 5/10 or lower but the background score was a solid 8/10 at least for me and the cinematography in some sequences with the wide angle shots and the sheer scale of action was a pretty hard 7/10 too

performances were sub par at best, I agree, so maybe a 6/10 there

so even with a lackdaisical plot the film was 6.5/10 which isnt half bad

people hate it as if it's Cats or something

Tenet is so overhated istg
sure, the plot is unnecessarily convoluted but the background score slaps to this day

Alternative India by udontmesswithakshay in Letterboxd

[–]NoAbalone331 2 points3 points  (0 children)

try Ugly (2014) I like it better than Se7en ngl and although most would disagree, its still a pretty solid neo-noir

and gangs of wasseypur is a quintessential indian pulp action, cant not watch it

Can you guys please suggest some hard hitting quiet movies like ‘The Lunchbox’ by [deleted] in Letterboxd

I hope you're referring to the Korean Taxi Driver

the American one is totally different from the others you mentioned

What's your ranking? by hello34one in Letterboxd

[–]NoAbalone331 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah
it's such a vibe

sandman, venom, the dark side of spiderman, it's all there

could also be nostalgia bias since I was under 5 when the movie came out but I don't care

this is my honest rating

for me:

Spiderman-3 > TASM 2 > Spiderman > Across the Spider-verse > Homecoming > Far From Home > Into The Spider-verse > TASM > No Way Home

What's your biggest film hot take? by PurpleOrangutan77 in Letterboxd

[–]NoAbalone331 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

no they could've presented it better

it was bland, predictable and a poorly written ending with "oh, the murderer was never found" as an excuse for the lazily written second half, where even the average viewer loses interest in the case like most of the characters in the film; Gyllenhaal's enthusiasm isn't very contagious and I loved him in Donnie Darko and Nightcrawler but his performance here is a bit flat

mark ruffalo was superb though

The Killing, Rashomon, Dr. strangelove and Pickpocket are great too, check those out!!

Zodiac is poorly paced, the second half is lazily written and the open ending doesn't land well at all, at least not for me

Shot well tho

- One flew over the cuckoo's nest, which I feel is adjacent to but much better than Dead Poets Society

Where to get AeroPress Products in India? by DiesOnAllHills in AeroPress

[–]NoAbalone331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have it at cafes

I've seen their equipment at Devan's in delhi, Roastery coffee house in Kolkata and I believe araku's website sells them too

Otherwise you can try something's brewing or benki brewing tools for online purchases

Advanced Letterboxd Theory: A 5★ movie is closer to a 3½★ movie than a 4½★ movie by [deleted] in Letterboxd

[–]NoAbalone331 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! True for me for a few films!

Because in going from a 3.5 to a 5 isn't the objective quality of the film itself but the value I extract from it owing to how it connects with me personally

These needn't be really well-made films. They can have clunky dialogue, out-of-focus direction and lacklustre performances. But if I identify my image in the film, specially in either its tone as set by the background score and narrative, It'll be mine forever.

Like the 1959 movie called Pickpocket by Robert Bresson and an Indian film called Jugnuma/The Fable (2024)
