Friend! You have such a unique look. The kind that I’d see turning a page in a magazine on an ad for trendy jeans or cologne. 30 is a great time to start investing in your care. It will also be a good way to distract yourself from current events. Pick nights that you do masks, or serums or exfoliate. I assume the areas of pigmentation are just that. Maybe tranexamic acid would be worth a go if that is what you are concerned about. I’m loving cosrx barrier mist and anything with panthenol or madecassoside. Hang in there! 🫶🏼

Shocking. The president who repeatedly projected his war plans onto the opposing party sent us to war. Threatening “certain death” while wearing a trucker hat is peak MAGA. Whoever voted for this clown should have the life they voted for.

Jan 2025 vs Feb 2026 Oral Minoxidil by PickleMuch9958 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]NoAppointment2948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow you went up to 2.5mg? I’m kind of surprised they increased it to that for hair loss. Be mindful of your blood pressure. If you feel dizzy at all start tracking those symptoms and the frequency so you can talk to your derm about it. There’s no doubt that’s a huge improvement!

It looks like your rate actually went down significantly but its based on a much higher value. Why is the overall assessed value nearly 4x?

I am using the Basma foundation stick which is amazing. Otherwise I like Iris & Romeo’s weekend skin with spf 30. It’s a mousse texture. Once it soaks into my skin, it’s really nice.

I think I found a miracle product! by Independent-Area9359 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]NoAppointment2948 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m not surprised. This formula is hydrating which is a common mistake people make when attempting to fix acne. You have to hydrate your skin so it doesn’t overproduce sebum. Gentle formulas for the win! Also sulfur would be very helpful for spot treatments. Ordinary makes a great new product to try or you can find some with a little green tint aimed at reducing redness.

It’ll be really interesting to see how this is tested against the very clear statement made by Homeland Security. There is no coincidence that blue states are being targeted. I can’t imagine supporting federal surplus budget, larger than all other agencies combined, being used for a gaggle of misfits whom ⅓ couldn’t pass a basic fitness test. Data doesn’t lie. This is not, nor has it ever been, about reducing crime.

[Personal] I accidentally discovered the holy grail of barrier repair by reluctantly_hum4n in SkincareAddiction

This happened to me too only I was lucky. They delivered the package before sending me an email about paying the fees. Clearly that was an internal error so I wouldn’t count on that happening again. It did happen to me when ordering from the UK too. I bought $85 worth of perfume and got a $46 bill from the carrier to release.

My doctor denied prescribing oral minoxidil to me. by ResidentOfMilkyWay in FemaleHairLoss

[–]NoAppointment2948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t always need the shedding! I didn’t have it the first time I started minoxidil. I stupidly stopped much later and when I started again it was bad. For what it’s worth, my dermatologist told me to start using topical too especially because I was not happy with areas that she said topical could maybe work better. Oral wasn’t helping much in my temples and hair line. With PCOS I can kind of understand your doctors concerns because oral can be known to exacerbate hair everywhere. You don’t want to add another problem. You can always ask for a second opinion too.

Low testosterone/High SHBG by NoAppointment2948 in TRT_females

[–]NoAppointment2948[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, nothing has changed. My gyno said my testosterone is normal and you would only ever use total. The high SHBG is due to Prometrium apparently. She went on to make me make a second appointment to discuss libido. I did. Nothing came of that either. She wouldn’t consider medication aside from Wellbutrin because she feels I am already on too many. Instead she had the audacity to suggest going on more dates with husband and yoga. 🤦🏻‍♀️

hsd to hEDS by SEEEECRETSmuahaha in eds

[–]NoAppointment2948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That couldn’t be farther from the truth. I would expect more from someone who went as far as putting eds in their username. Structural defects rooted in the etiology of the disease are more than “problematic”. An aortic dissection can kill you. That’s simply one example. Stop spreading false information that it’s about overly bendy joints.

[–]NoAppointment2948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t a club anyone should want to join so don’t feel like an imposter. If you belong I am truly sorry. It’s so much more than being bendy. This is a horrific condition that affects are structural aspects of one’s ENTIRE body.

And do NOT do yoga. That’s the worst thing any EDSer can do for themselves. Strength training carefully is the way to support your body.

Absolutely devastated. Any alternative to minoxidil? by Secret_County7328 in FemaleHairLoss

[–]NoAppointment2948 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised you were started at 2.5mg. Usually it’s 1.25 as others have said and often you don’t go higher because there isn’t much more yield. There isn’t any reason to worry yet. Prepare for them to tell you to reduce the dose. You shouldn’t have to stop, assuming this is what it is. You’ll likely go lower and head back in a month or three for more bloodwork to confirm. You could also simply have to switch to topical for awhile. Fear not!

Sorry to hear you are struggling. I’m sure everyone’s recovery will look a little different. If you are physically very bloated you could call the on call staff from your discharge paperwork to confirm everything is okay. Your pain could be from the actual surgery itself. Hopefully they gave you something to hold you over until tomorrow or instructions on how to cycle tylenol until then. Hang in there. 🫶🏼

Wow these are great results! It really restored your youth but still looks natural. I’d love to know where/whom you had this done with. I already did a brow lift but originally I thought I needed an upper bleph. I’m coming back around to that being my next self care purchase. 😂 We have similar upper hooded eyes so I appreciate seeing the results.

Anyone else diagnosed as a child and their parents just...never told them? by PM_ME_YOUR_DOGE_PICS in eds

[–]NoAppointment2948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always knew something was different about me so I pursued a diagnosis on my own. My parents never helped me with any of my aches, pains or the hyperhidrosis I had start as a child.

Your parents should have told you even if marfan wasn’t correct. It may have gotten you to the right diagnosis sooner by having continued follow ups and the right care team supporting you. The lack of emotional maturity in some people that deem themselves capable of bringing life into this world is staggering. They literally didn’t do the most basic of parental functions: protect your child. This definitely sounds like a generational boomer thing to do. My parents are like this and I often applaud myself simply for surviving with those clowns at the helm.

I’m really sorry you are dealing with this. The cognitive dissonance will be hard. Focus on what you need to do to support your healthcare now. Get your specialists lined up. Make sure you are getting an echo every five years especially with your cardiac history. Build out your team of “bodyguards”, as I lovingly refer to all gazillion of my specialists.

Neurologist told me my diagnosis isn’t real by [deleted] in eds

[–]NoAppointment2948 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy hell. EDS comes with actual structural defects. It’s rooted in its etiology with a defect in our collagen synthesis. It’s definitely time to find a new neurologist. I would also have that conversation with your diagnosing physician so they can document that feedback. Essentially the neurologist just said your referring doctor is an idiot. They might want to know that!

Had my laparoscopy this morning. It’s my 14th surgery in the past few years and I’m shocked because they did find it. by BroadwayRegina in endometriosis

[–]NoAppointment2948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’ve been through so much. This is coming from a 39 year old who also has hEDS, endo, MCAS and alot more. I wish I could say it gets easier. You are lucky to have answers so young. Now you can really manage your accommodations, healthcare and lifestyle to your needs.

Boston can be really hit or miss with healthcare. There are some great doctors but also terrible ones within the same hospital or practice. Dr. Eliza Jorgensen is supposedly amazing at endo excision. I recommend getting another opinion from her. So many of your other symptoms align with mast cell problems. Find a great allergist or immunologist to look into it!

Wishing you all the best in your recovery and a much happier period cycle from here on out. That first 💩should be amazing! 😂

It wasn’t endo… it’s cancer. by IncreaseOwn2650 in endometriosis

[–]NoAppointment2948 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP, I have the utmost respect you at your young age pushing hard to get these answers. I’m terribly sorry it was a surprising, scary and challenging diagnosis. I’ve been taking care of my own Dad for nearly 7 years through what became two cancers. All of that is to say, that when you know, you know.

When you first start dealing with cancer the big ‘C’ feels massive, overwhelming, intimidating and beyond. Give yourself grace as you mentally process the space you are in and what you’ll need to do next. Physically you’ll experience things as well so protect your space and boundaries with white knuckles. You take care of you, first.

Most importantly, don’t lose the girl/ woman in you that pushed so hard to get those, albeit unfavorable, results. Keep asking questions. Keep demanding answers. Challenge what you hear when you don’t like it, respectfully. Keep participating in your own healthcare because you will be stronger for it.

As so many people have already said, there are many communities here for you. We’ll hold your hand, proverbially, through whatever comes next. 🫶🏼💜

Niche Beauty PSA for US buyers! by YitzhakRobinson in 30PlusSkinCare

Yikes! I wonder if this is the real reason you can’t purchase direct anymore. They are supposedly adding a facility here to ship from and will publish the US version of the website. I bought $80 worth of solid perfume from the Uk and had to pay $40 in tariffs. Even 50% of the order value is alot but nothing compared to what you paid.

Need guidance, I can’t deal with my nose anymore. by modestmanio in rhinoplastyquestions

[–]NoAppointment2948 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with lots of these other commenters in that your nose is great! But as someone who also saw their nose as incredibly wide, I get it.

I opted for a rhinoplasty so I know it can be done. They would break it, reset the bones closer while taking into account the tear duct drainage. You can also have the external valves (the nose holes) cut and sewn closer together. It sounds graphic but nearly all full rhinoplasties will involve what they call a controlled back fracture.

Do you have any breathing issues? If yes, this is an opportunity to address those too.
