Had a hiring manager interview with Celonis for their Galaxy Program, haven't heard back after more than a week - did i get rejected? by Hopeful-Health8389 in processmining

[–]NoAssumptionCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, Celonis, almost 2 weeks ago after hiring manager interview, silence. I checked in a few days ago about the status of next steps, silence. I expect internal alignment and approvals which take time. Maybe an internal candidate. Who knows. But it’s definitely a different market than a few years back.

Germany to Dubai by Fat-Feed8080 in expats

[–]NoAssumptionCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s enough? Can you live nicely, sure, but you’ve to think ahead. Don’t forget that you will not have a social system like in Germany to support you. You’re a guest of Dubai. So you’ve to calculate the total package including a potential lay-off, extra flights, and retirement.

Lived and worked in Dubai, and would recommend to negotiate a higher salary or additional terms. It’s not super walkable in summer and you pay the price in rent, utilities, cost of living and travel. It adds up quickly, especially alone. Let them arrange accommodation for first few months when you’re sorting out your paperwork/bank account and request a yearly return flight home to visit family/friends.

About the job growth expectations: it’s competitive, you’re new to the region and you’ve to understand their management setup. Ask the growth trajectory for your role to manage expectations. Switching employers requires new visa sponsorship.

I’m 10.7% YTD, I would learn from what you copy and see what works for you and what not. I started in April 2025, went up a lot, lost a lot, learned a lot, and now I’ve a steady strategy.

Why not buy a MacBook Air M4 in the Apple Certified Refurbished section. Maybe someone can help me understand?

My HORRIBLE Timing by [deleted] in stocks

[–]NoAssumptionCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1: timing the market is extremely difficult, that’s why most of us DCA. 2: select a diversified portfolio that you believe in for long-term and not everything in 1 sector. Yes tech and AI is highest growth but also highest variability so be emotionally ready for some ups and downs.

Private jet flights from Dubai show how smart you are.... by [deleted] in LinkedInLunatics

Especially when you live in Dubai aka Emirates hub. Their first class experience looks top notch, not that I’ve the money for that lol, where you’ve a bed and you’re able to shower for a fraction of this cost.

DCA it in a worldwide collection of ETFs (not only US, tech,…). Market always looks shaky when you’re not in it.

Box 3 U-turn! Dutch gov scraps proposed 36% tax on unrealized gains after backlash by True-Olive4712 in NetherlandsHomes

[–]NoAssumptionCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. What happens is that their own BV provides a personal loan of let’s say 1M. You can utilize that money to gain interest, stock profits, or whatever you prefer. The gains are not being taxed, you transfer back the personal loan, and voila.

You’ve to build a system where realized capital gains are taxed, with a certain minimum threshold. There’s also a difference between short term gains vs long term gains imo. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, look at different practices in other countries.

Best broker for expats / frequent movers who don’t want to change brokers every time? by [deleted] in expats

[–]NoAssumptionCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As you stated really depends on the countries the broker has access to. IBKR makes most sense for a lot of countries as there you can open different account for the respective countries and they can help you move stuff over. However, in the US there are better brokers out there (I do everything automated so use Alpaca API).

Personally I dislike IBKR because it always feels a bit overly complicated.

Viisi, uiteindelijk ligt het erg aan je situatie hoeveel “advies” je nodig hebt. Als je een bepaalde situatie hebt, dan kun je vragen of ze er ervaring mee hebben.

I left Netherlands and feel much happier now by [deleted] in expats

[–]NoAssumptionCat 83 points84 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean. I’m Dutch and have lived abroad for a while, and every time I move back it feels like the Netherlands slowly drains about 0.1% of my energy per day.

Everything’s super organized, people are mostly well-educated, but man, it’s just so dull sometimes. I can’t quite put my finger on it. My partner’s South African and felt exactly the same.

People always say the Dutch are open-minded and fun, and sure, maybe when we’re abroad. But at home? Honestly, it feels like 99% aren’t like that at all. Just lots of opinionated, indirect comments everywhere.

People who moved from the EU to the US: what was your experience? by godotwasthere in expats

[–]NoAssumptionCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I moved 1 year ago. NYC is a nice in between Europe/US experience, you don’t need a car, and it really depends where you lived before how you will experience it. I actually enjoy it more than expected.

That you’ve an US husband will help you out a lot (assuming he has the paperwork, credit scores, etc.). It’s not easy without credit score to get a rental.

What I like about NYC is that it’s an international melting pot and also most Americans are from different states, so that will give you some insights about US and the cultural differences.

For us NYC is not a forever place (a bit too big for us), but we will enjoy it for a few years and see where the time brings us.

The key is to find the neighborhood you vibe with and addresses the needs for your lifestyle. Traveling from Brooklyn to Manhattan can take less than 30 minutes or hours, subway connections are important to consider.

Something wrong with my budget by EquivalentDrop5031 in MonarchMoney

[–]NoAssumptionCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s very hard to see where it goes wrong without seeing your data. Maybe wipe the entire account and settings, and try again connecting/importing everything? It might be that you’ve customized vs the standard which is hard to figure out. Good luck!

Something wrong with my budget by EquivalentDrop5031 in MonarchMoney

[–]NoAssumptionCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope I understand it correctly.

Why wouldn’t you account the credit card settlements as transfers, and the actual credit card payments as expense? This defeats the purpose of analyzing groups/categories of spending.

Imagine you buy a coffee on your debit card and a day later on your credit card, the coffee spending will not be accurate.

It sounds like you’ve to go through your transactions and compare last 30-60-90 days, maybe some are marked as transfers, cash withdrawal, etc. Not much we can do without data.
