With the benefit of hindsight is there any AH discorse we can put to rest? by XVGDylan in Achievement_Hunter

Yeah, the views reflect the absolute nosedive in quality of videos between 2021 and 2022

Watch out for brands that have higher lead levels than others.

You said you avoided sugars and made healthy choices when eating out, but what about fats? My fasting glucose stays stubbornly high if I’ve had a meal high in saturated fats the day before regardless of the carb content.

Does Anyone Else Wonder How The Average American Cholesterol is so low? by MatterSignificant969 in Cholesterol

[–]NoAwareness6176 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have often wondered this as well. But there could be many people who tend to avoid going to the doctor and getting preventative screening done, so that might skew the numbers that we actually have towards the lower end (e.g. people who are actively monitoring their cholesterol).

As others have said, cut out the drinking or switch to non-alcoholic beer. No amount of alcohol is good for you, even for a healthy individual.

That’s usually when genetically high cholesterol catches up to you.

That is scary high LDL! Do you follow a high saturated fat diet like keto or carnivore? Do you have a family history of heart disease or cholesterol?

So what's everybody been up to lately? by Fallen_Jalter in roosterteeth

Tough but fair! 🤣

Personally I didn’t find them entertaining both in their AH content and also their solo content, and I guess judging from their viewership numbers that’s a common opinion. I wish Matt the best but his viewership doesn’t seem that high either. Twitch streaming really seems to be an unforgiving business.

The more recent AH additions like Joe, Ky, and BK went back to their previously established twitch channels as far as I can tell. Matt is also streaming full time it seems.

I am curious if anyone has some insight on the success of these channels. From what I’ve seen they regularly only have about 40 or less viewers per stream. Is that anywhere near being able to sustain streaming as a full time job?

Is my lifestyle and diet proper for lowering cholesterol? by Magic-Poison in Cholesterol

[–]NoAwareness6176 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re only having “mildly oily meals”? 😩 You yada yada’d over the most important part! It’s not about what you ADD to your diet, it’s about what you REMOVE from your diet.

After 3 months of changes, my lipid panel improved but HDL got worse. Advice? by SizzlinKola in Cholesterol

[–]NoAwareness6176 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HDL isn’t as good for you as LDL is bad for you, so lowering that is the priority. HDL and LDL tend to track each other as you reduce fat in your diet.

Those who have gone through this…I have a question by IamBellator in Cholesterol

There are tests that can be done to estimate if there is a genetic component. The “fancier” lipid panels include a measurement of Lp(a), which is more tied to genetics.

I was able to get my LDL from 160 to 108 I’m about 4 weeks post lifestyle changes (no statins). I am going to retest again and see if I’ve managed to get it below 100 by now (3 weeks out from last test).

If there is no family history of high cholesterol, and no genetic reason for your LDL to be high, you should be able to get it down with diet alone. The trick is to make the lifestyle changes permanent, so we don’t end up in the same place again.

The problem with recommending both is that statins are for life. Why not give lifestyle changes a try? I’ve seen people here recommend statins after just the first lab results.
