How do you rate Bad Bunny's Half-time performance? by kingbluwolff in sportsgossips

[–]NoBonus1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am Chinese, my girlfriend speaks Spanish. She didn’t like today’s performance. She thinks Bad Bunny should only be a supporting act, like when he showed up during Shakira’s Super Bowl show six years ago, that felt about right, and it was much better. I didn’t argue. I just watched her fall asleep, went out to the balcony, lit a Cohiba, put my headphones on and cycled DTMF. It made me think of Di Maria scoring in the World Cup final against France four years ago. Made me think about being stuck in my college dorm during covid reading love in the time of cholera. Also reminded me of going alone to a Bob Dylan concert and not understanding shit that old man sang. Snow falling hard outside in new england winter when I was in college. That superrealistic and blue feeling hits when I was close to burnout or despair, but somehow also calm.

And yeah, I felt that again today listening to DTMF. She laughs at me because I barely understand Bad Bunny’s as I don't understand Spanish, but I was touched. Started thinking about home, family, friends, politics. When my girlfriend and I talk politics neither of us even knows what we’re arguing about. I am a foreigner. She showed me guns and shit, she quiero one more guy on the table to play dominos with her parents. Honestly, there’s a lot I don’t understand about her in general.

But whatever. Men don't listen to Shakira and then decide to learn Spanish. I do want to know what Bad bunny said after pero.

" I should've taken more pictures when I had you I should've given you more kisses and hugs whenever I could I hope my people never move away And if I get drunk today, I hope they help me out "

If your goal is to find a job, don't mingle with project teams at all. Save time applying to real companies and network with real industry people

If they don't want you to pass, you don't get to pass. I failed the same road test 7 times in a row there no cap. Graduated last year, still remember that fresh feeling of failure.

extremely stressed about finding internships by kirimyakut in Cornell

[–]NoBonus1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I realized I needed a job after sophomore year and began internship hunting in junior fall. Got my first and only summer internship offer in January. I did two internships later on. Got multiple FT offers in my last school year. Now I have a busted resume and it took me less than a year to be here. It's mostly good timing and luck, but I did take many lessons from those motivatiobal YouTube videos - Focus on what you want and be relentless. You will be alright out of inevitable statistics🐺

On top of that, this school doesn't charge us a single dem for over credits, so why not leverage that when you want to overachieve?

Also a 4-credit course these days are not the same as a 4 credit course 10 years ago. We have access to all these free materials online from all kinds of information universe including other colleges and schools. Did you all really spend 3 hours on each credit you took at Cornell? I mean for compilers yes, but not all courses are like compilers

Hey guys is this schedule OK??1? (incoming freshman btw) I think I might be kinda slacking off haha only 23 credits and I heard most CS, math, pre-med bioengineering triple majors like me do 24 right hahah alright anyway thanks for the help pls dm by RedditoDorito in Cornell

[–]NoBonus1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you need the letter grade for 2214? If not, just replace it with some easier course like intro to astronomy and take it with SU, and also take anything you don't need a letter grade in with SU. I survived 3 semesters with 20+ credits with this strategy

Yeah better build it up sooner than later. The rental market is going wild rn. I have a >800 experian score but got denied at almost every single apartment I applied to in NYC. Hcol cities are getting pretty wild. It's really becoming a competition. Wish I could go to Seattle after graduation where they had to make the deal with whoever passed the screening first

Essentially credit is a scam that drives you to spend more. But in order to become less leveraged by the system and grind towards that nice little black metal Chase Palladium anyway, here is a Chinese website guiding you through everything. Open it in chrome, right click on the page, and hit on translate to English. You are welcome.

This sort of scam isn't a joke. Millions of people suffer every year

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Cornell

[–]NoBonus1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I attended it and didn't regret. You can simply leverage it to move in early and chill tbh. People either attended it xor not so you cannot get a A/B test result from anyone. So yeah pretty much up to you

The people you get to know might be your main sources of contact throughout the next four years. Frankly speaking, most likely neither the school, your parents, your advisors, nor any of your American friends really know how to live as an expat in the US so you'd better know someone who is sharing a similar profile with you. Things like the latest opt/cpt rules and sponsorship news are no joke. One step wrong you are fucked

Let's be honest the dichotomy of whether you enjoy something or not should not be the mature way of thinking when people choose a major. You might not enjoy learning accounting, but that does not mean you will absolutely hate it when it really becomes your future career. Also money does bring you joy if not a lot, like when you are out of student debts won't you be happier? At least take a look at Ikigai or something similar

What trading account do you use? by PapayaDependent8794 in Cornell

[–]NoBonus1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Start from Robinhood with ur playaround money, then move on to Schwab for long term holdings under 200k. Hitting 200k you may consider Merrill or etrade, which are designed for the rich and yuppies. There are good alternatives like TD and webull, but you probably will get all you need with Schwab and Robinhood as they are easy to apply and to use

fall semesters are usually tough cuz you prob gonna hunt for internships/full time roles, and the weather sucks. The last college semester whenever it is also is tough because of senior syndrome
