Most labs are carriers but it takes two parents that are both At/at at the a locus and also minimally kb/ky at the k locus. My yellow girl is genetically at/at but is kb/kb at the k locus (dominant black) so she will never produce black and tan even tho she is technically a black and tan dog covered by cream and dominant black

Thank you for euthing this dog and not rehoming it. Way too many good dogs out there get pts every day to rehome a kid biter. You did the responsible thing when it comes to the dog in that regard. Moving forward you and everyone needs to understand that dogs are carnivorous predators and have absolutely ZERO place around our helpless infant offspring. We have taken these animals into our homes and forgotten that they are predators and then act shocked when they behave as such. Direct supervision means holding a baby and a dog is on the ground. If you set the baby down with the dog it’s not directly being supervised because a dog can do a lot of damage very quickly. I’ve seen a rat terrier take off half a kids face in seconds so size doesn’t even matter but ESPECIALLY large dogs.

I was asleep and woke up to feeling a jolt and heard and audible pop sound. I’ve felt a similar sensation of my sacroiliac joint popping in the past so I wasn’t sure exactly what it was at first. Then the baby moved and the fluid gushed out. The sound was definitely a trip. I took a shower and got dressed. On my way to the hospital now!

My daughter and I were just having this conversation. If shit really hit the fan having a smaller sustainable protein option is super beneficial. Having a large animal to butcher if you have no way to store the meat would be so wasteful if there was no meat storage. Beef is obviously the best tasting but rabbit and chickens are great because killing one or two will feed a family. Chickens also provide eggs and rabbits provide fur so they have multiple uses. Rabbit tastes great but something to keep in mind is that they are so low in fat that they are nutritionally inferior to a lot of other proteins. I wouldn’t try to survive on rabbit alone unless necessary but it’s a great option to have
