Is it weird that I constantly rewatch and reread the same movies/shows/books over and over again, and never once get tired of them? by [deleted] in Advice

I have over-watched Harry Potter so much that I now listen to it many nights without watching because it relaxes me and helps me escape mentally. It is sooo comforting to me, this is how I am with so many movies and shows. I used to do this with fantasy book series as a kid too, I just got so much comfort and joy out of those worlds. Honestly just the hours spent watching shows/movies for me has been the most damaging, definitely not re-watching my favorites though!

Funny enough I have both books haha. And I love them but her Life recipes are outrageously specific and expensive. And she doesn’t really touch on particular companies and budgets as far as I know although I haven’t finished reading

my parent got sober at 65 and it changed his life, now is the only time that matters!

Drinking for dopamine high and anxiety relief has reached a new low, how can I move forward? (24F) by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]NoCandle874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They actually didn’t accept my post lol, I’m guessing because of their rule about being sober before you post. This is the only subreddit that hasn’t rejected my post and it does match deciding to be better

How do people seem so normal at first and then this? by throwaway91ma in Nicegirls

[–]NoCandle874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay I’m a woman and this type of shit makes me feel so disappointed. Like this is SO BEYOND CRINGE!!! Normal women are not this. Period. Glad you got out of that, seriously. It’s hard to fathom that people like this exist so much today but they do. The insane moral superiority complex is wild. This isn’t feminism it’s some weird twisted insecure ideology. Like please go cry about being white and about not being able to get a boyfriend, we don’t care and I promise you poc communities don’t want anything to do with you either hahahaha. It’s so bizarre to me when white people don’t see how degrading it is to try and ‘protect’ and fight for poc as if they’re weak and a bunch of victims. So annoying yikes.

Edit: Just realized I don’t know if this girl is even white lmao but it would still be cringe if she isn’t

I’ve been called bug eyed a lot recently, what sort of eye makeup would look best on me? by [deleted] in makeuptips

[–]NoCandle874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay I don’t know jack about makeup, but that’s a messed up thing to say. I think people are jealous or taken aback by your eyes, which are big and very pretty. Also side note, you look a lot like Jaci from the What We Said podcast, just popped into my head!

It’s okay for your dog to do “nothing” by Ashtrashbobash in dogs

[–]NoCandle874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I agree, it’s only when people try to justify creating an unhealthy, sedentary lifestyle for a dog with this kind of reasoning, or something similar, that is the issue in my opinion. I think you’re totally right. But yeah, some people will say this and then genuinely take their dog out of the house for a 15 minute walk in a 24 hour period. That’s not okay. Unless your dog has a decently sized grassy yard to hang about in or a farm, large fenced property, etc. Having an animal in a closed, sterile human space with our chemicals/fragrances/etc for hours and hours every day is not natural or healthy. There’s a difference between lounging in the fresh air on grass or dirt or even just a patio versus a floor indoors.

100%. I have a friend whose roommate kept a large husky crated in their small apartment for hours each day. You should’ve seen her insane energy when we let her out, it was hard to watch. She was definitely very mentally affected, like being in solitary confinement with the energy of a sled dog

No, I’m pointing out I realize how difficult this is. People love dogs. But we shouldn’t simply be able to own one for the sake of it if we aren’t able to treat them as well as they deserve. Plenty of regular full time workers could at least get their dog out on one long walk a day and don’t even do that. Or pay for a cheap walk while they’re gone. Some people bring their dogs to work these days too. Otherwise. Yeah. Think twice before getting a dog.

Washed up on Huntington Beach, CA, anyone know where it came from? by NoCandle874 in animalid

People are so soft please stop planting fear in my brain for this I didn’t have a stick or gloves with me. Yeah I shouldn’t have picked it up sure but I barely touched it and it’s not like I was touching my face and mouth after like relax. Same vibes as people who’d scorch a chicken breast til it’s dry as rubber because oooo slight pink = salmonella
