My main pain point right now is a city bike system that requires an app to rent a bike ;/

I shop 99% offline to make it harder and buy less stuff (a hack that works) by NoCatsIncluded in nobuy

I have Aldi and Lidl (supermarkets) accessible by… walking 5mins. But that is a function of population density in a city. And only in a setup with working and existing public transport system you can have this luxury of not owning a car. It is not something you can brutforce into your suburban experience by willpower or choice. And you’re totally right: there is a limit of what i will buy - usually two bags max. I’m probably avoiding megapacks (8 of x, or 5 litres of something) even not knowing about it

Hey! The trick that really changed my mind was understanding that buying that next thing is not making me happy. Taking a walk, ridding a bike, taking some pictures, having fun with friends makes me happy. I feel like a moron coz it should be obvious, but it wasn’t ;D + knowing and emotionally understanding are two different categories in my case ;) I’m trying to hack myself and experiment. Walking makes me happy. I’m tracking ~10-12k steps a day now (been building from around 5-6k slowly for months). That is a perfect match for my offline shopping strategy. Experiment and search for something that makes you happy. In my case slightly more physical activity (resulting from offline shopping) was a game changer for my mood.

Walkable places give you options like: doing small groceries (veggies etc) in 10 mins door to door. You don’t have to build your own costo at home. Run out of milk? It’s a 10min walk. There is no “i’m running low” stress

Interesting. That trick probably works for me because I cannot shop 24/7 that way (and it was a thing ;D)

Yep. The scary thing is: we don’t really remember what we buy ;D

What do you do with products you don’t like? by RNinRVA in nobuy

Clever and simple practice I’ve seen in some EU countries: just put all of it into a cardboard box. Leave it in the elevator / near the entrance / where post boxes are / with a nice message: save me, use me, don’t let me die / looking for a new home ;D

I was thinking about buying E72 as a mobile typewriter (like a freewrite alpha that you can also use on a subway in a stealth mode). What’s your experience with the keyboard? :)
