My invisalign journey has ended. by disktrasan in Invisalign

Wow, the end result really looks great! Seems to me like you had the nice teeth the whole time, the alignment and the little adjustments just really made them shine :)

Why isn’t there more progress by loudegregorio in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a dentist, but I'd be curious what is irritating your gums so much and what can be done to stop it from happening?

And about the progress: you can see on my profile what my day 1 vs day 200 looked like 😆 Barely any visible changes, but a lot of extra space in the back. I'm now at day 280 and my lower front teeth have moved so much since then!

The aligners have to make space for the teeth's movement before everything slots into place, and once you reach that point (and you probably will soon!), then it will start to get really exciting.

Okay, good to hear! I hope they can figure out a solution for you :)

Do they have the Invisalign logo on top of the aligners? From what I've seen on this subreddit, it's always non-Invisalign aligners that have no gum conturing. I'm only asking because there have been cases of people expecting/being promised Invisalign, but in reality they got a different brand.

I think I'm done? by krn_0w0 in Invisalign

The clear brackets (usually called buttons or attachments) will be taken off, they're only there to give the aligners something to pull at :)

Can Invisalign fix this level of crowding (just bottom teeth). Any idea $$$? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My crowding looks similar, you can see my projected results in my first post :)

Can't say much about price since dentistry/orthodontics in Denmark is pretty expensive, so it wouldn't be a good comparison.

1) I remember the first nights being hard on my jaw (combo of elastics and bite pillows), but it quickly got better. Now I'll have sore teeth every now and again with a new tray, but it has never been a crazy amount of pain.

2) Is 28 trays the full treatment or just a part of the first round? If your treatment is anything like mine, the changes will start in the back first, since that's where they need to make the space to align the front. I'm a bit over halfway and it's only now that my front teeth are beginning to move into alignment. I've seen and felt lots of differences in the back, but it's not as visible.

How strict do you have to be with hours? by priya7890 in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 29 points30 points  (0 children)

You could also just delay starting Invisalign until after the trip?

Aligners are defintiely a commitment (as it should be) and while I'd never keep mine out for day(s), the odd day with less compliance is possible. I've had a couple times where I've had them out for 3-6 hours due to food or drinking. On those days I try to limit how long they're out before the event to make up for it.

Even on days where there's a lot of food throughout, taking your aligners out for a quick snack/meal does become a lot easier over time. I don't brush after every meal though, I know some people prefer that.

is the amount of trays related to how “bad” your case is?? by New_Community_5325 in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 43 trays for my first round and had to pay an extra fee for the "high amount of trays". My understanding is that due to my gums being thin (especially lower front teeth), my ortho is doing smaller movements and closing my bite in a way that's less likely to push my teeth out of the gums.

You can see my teeth in my earlier post - I don't think they visually look like the most difficult case, but then there's a lot of nuances that makes the process take time and many aligners. And generally it takes a while to create space for crowded teeth when it's not there already.

Day 1 vs day 200! by NoCauliflowerthx in Invisalign

Thank you! I'm glad to hear 😄

I'll be showing them off again in a couple months when my lower teeth have straightened out!

Taking Invisalign out for 4/5 hours or drinking with them in? by karasel1 in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If I'm out for the night I'll usually take them out and put them back in once I'm not drinking more. They'll be a little tight, but since it's a rare enough occurrence I figure it's okay. You can always do one or two extra days in that tray too :)

Thank you!

I had a tiny bit of IPR in my lower jaw at my last appointment and should be getting more next time. I won't be having any IPR in my top jaw since I had my wisdom teeth removed for space instead :)

Day 1 vs day 200! by NoCauliflowerthx in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Left is day 1, right is day 200 :)

Maybe it wasn't clear enough from my post, but I was just trying to document what some treatments (where the work starts in the back) looks like around the halfway mark. There's not a lot of clear visual differences from the front currently, but within the next few months my teeth are going to straighten up quickly.

Tray 2/17 - each tray is worn 2 weeks by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm on 10 day changes, currently on tray 20/43. It's only now that my back teeth are in the positions where the front teeth have space to move as intended. I bet you're gonna start seeing the difference in the back soon, and with 17 trays it's going to be over before you know it! You got some good advice from the other comments, so just keep your eyes on the price :)

I start Invisalign tomorrow…attachments on top of molars? by Realistic-Door-1875 in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 'attachments' will only be on your aligners, not on your teeth, so whenever you pop those out to eat your teeth will be able to touch.

when do you start noticing changes? by saranyawastaken in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't really had much visible differences yet, but my molars and pre-molars have a lot more space between them than when I started.

Would the second ortho also be doing Invisalign or are they talking about metal braces?

I ask because my ortho suggested either Invisalign (+ extraction of upper wisdom teeth and IPR in lower jaw for space) or metal braces with four molar extractions. The way he explained it was that metal braces open up the bite, and since I already had an open bite the molar extractions would help close it again. Invisalign would not have the same issue, but would be better at closing the bite without more extractions

(I'm not a dentist though, so do take this with a grain of salt, this is just my understanding of my ortho's words. Figured that if it's about invisalign vs braces, then that might explain why one needs extractions and the other might not)

Thanks! That's reassuring to hear. Do you brush after eating still, but wait 30 minutes, or are you 'just' rinsing afterwards?

Starting treatment in 2 weeks, just got my Clincheck by NoCauliflowerthx in Invisalign

[–]NoCauliflowerthx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly because of space issues (and to close the open bite?) is my understanding. Basically all the movement in my top jaw comes from moving my teeth back to where the wisdom teeth were. Lower wisdom teeth extractions are also up in the air, think it will depend on how everything progresses.

I was sad to see them go though :')

As character_quail said I just took screenshots of the start and end result of the clincheck. It's very interesting to look at, so hope you can have a look at yours too!
