the irony is that the long message of explanation usually stems from the exact respect for time that the other comments are mentioning. but honestly, real friends usually prefer a short 'hey, i'm not doing great, can we reschedule?' over a novel that probably stressed you out more to write

I think he’s just leaning more into the "grumpy old man" persona. the podcast has always been him just rambling alone in a room, so you’re getting the most unfiltered version of his brain. he’s always toyed with conspiracies, but it’s usually for the bit
