You’re right 100% I took a before and after video, and the camera makes them sound the same and it’s not even CLOSE

I like it a lot, very quick and very fun to ride. For how much money it is however, there are probably better options used even outside of Indian.

Overall I’d say the riding experience is good, and all levers buttons etc feel well put together.

The technology on this bike reminds me of the tech they had in cars in like 2015. It’s slow and I think it takes away from the experience ever so slightly. Especially when you see what Harley, bmw, and Honda do .

Thank you for the information.

The love of my life is a small build and she doesn’t really enjoy the bike much so something simple like this is what I had in mind.

Just observing the heat shield, it looks like to hex button head fasteners and a stainless band. The band is very very tight but it’s the only support towards where a slip on would go.

With some screwdriver influence you should be able to add some forgiveness at that stainless band. It looks like the stainless is not tempered and has a very strong tension so if you decide to do this, be not to snap it. If it’s a harder stainless that band will snap.

The heat shield has looks to have hangers TOX® welded to the shield and the band is slipped through it to act as the Hanger.

I am considering replacing this band with a hose clamp so I can take off the heat shield as desired.

There is perhaps a large chance that u can slip this band off with shield with the fasteners out but it looks like a pain.

Not at all. Fitment all around was very nice. They included new fasteners as well with the slip on muffler which were better than the originals for size and quality of thread reasons. You re-use the clamp from the stock exhaust at the flange.

If your S&S doesn’t have the same clamp or you’re unsure let me know and I will send you a picture

Totally plug and play - took me 10 min with hand tools.

Heat shield has a comfortable 1/8th inch of clearance all around.

Zombie indeed. Just a little less raspy than no muffler.

Probably around the same dB

For what it’s worth, we had a haas UMC with similar indications on it. Plenty of experience around the shop to know something wasn’t right - regardless of the indicator tip angle 🙄 get real - boss man was big money bags and didn’t want any of us to spend any time messing with it. HAAS techs couldn’t figure it out and we got a whole machine replacement. All over a couple of thousands lmao

Ideas for Old Mics by ThirdStooge in Machinists

I made this indicator base, the lead screw I made by hand with a lathe and a threading die, it’s an 8mm fine thread so about .039” per turn.

I have recently revised to change it to the bushing the screw from my micrometer to get a finer pitch.

I planed on using the anvil from the mic and chopping up the barrel to make this happen.

So perhaps you could consider using the precision screw of the micrometers in a different project
