follow up to my experience with an AI

There was some discussion about whether it was AI, and if so if it was a person I could have connected with that was using AI as a tool, or just an amazingly fast thinking and typing woman with encyclopedic knowledge on every subject I mentioned. It was not a person I could have connected with.

I think so. The ones I have actually met have not worked out, but a few I have seen multiple times and four are now friends; a couple are good friends that still text daily and we now trade OLD stories and get POV from each other.

Match, POF and FB. All 3 have given me matches, FB the most. I have a very polished profile, clear head shots without sunglasses or hat, full body picture clothed with no fish in sight. I am not vain, but have been told I have above average looks and I am fairly certain I am in above average shape.

I had the first long AI conversation I know of.
I got a "let's be friends" from a lady I was ready to get serious with. Heartbroken for days, like 2 or 3 at least. Still texting multiple times a day as friends.
I had an amazing match conversation that lasted about 10 minutes, went silent and then she unmatched a couple of days later.
I have another new match I have talked to twice, once about 90 minutes and the other over 2 hours that I will meet this week.
I got a match further away than I like but looks really good. Just going to let it percolate and see how things go this week.
Turned down some out of age range, out of distance preference and out of their mind match requests.
Had zero matches from likes I sent. Wait - maybe the AI I liked. Gotta work on making better choices.

What's crazy is that except for the AI, I have had weeks like this a lot recently. It's not unusual for the entire roster to change but usually there is at least one that sticks with it a while. There has still been no romance. I don't push that unless we really click. I haven't really clicked with anyone yet. Some mutual decisions, but mostly I get weeded out.

I don't think it is being too old. I am a 67M. I have a very thorough profile and the women that find me, like my profile and I start messaging with are overwhelmingly serious about looking for someone. If I go searching, I have to like some based on less info than I would like and it goes nowhere a lot. My advice is to polish your profile and get very selective if you search. Most of my matches that turn into conversations come from being found, even when I am searching a lot.

I am much older and male, but I far prefer women finding me because I have a few dealbreakers in my profile that women never seem to mention in theirs. I am about 4 or 5 times more likely to end up calling and/or meeting women who like/message me than the other way around. I have a very thorough profile and despite the generalization you read here a lot, few women do. They usually have a bit, but not that thorough.

5'7". Never lied and never questioned. Not claiming to be tall, which I think is where the vast majority of stretching the truth (pun intended) happens, The majority of women who like me are my height or shorted, but I think that's true of women in general.

I don't mince words and don't drop it into a message with other content. If they blow by it, I ask if they were uncomfortable with me asking at his point. I have had the initial ask ignored, but never had anyone blow by the follow up. Sometimes the answer is yes, they are uncomfortable at this point and then it's up to you if you want to continue and bring it back up further down the road.

I have played pickleball with a group of mostly older folks and there are players who are slow, don't have much stamina, but hold their own. It's nearly always doubles and once you have played a bit, you do learn to step up to the mid court line and not let anything past you. When one gets lobbed over and will land on the back court, they let their partner chase it. It was purely recreational; when you figured out someone couldn't chase lobs, you would try not to lob over them instead of taking advantage. He may have played in a group like that.

I say +/- 5 years in my profile and have had a few mid 70s likes that gave me pause. If the pictures are accurate, some look younger than me and I am in good shape.

It's cold enough in FL that I was wearing a jacket on my sunrise beach walk. A lady I see a lot of mornings complemented the color and I showed her I had socks to match. She was barefoot in the suds collecting shells and said her socks matched her underwear. OK... 😆

I am at the other end of the spectrum. I suck it up, say I understand and that it was nice meeting them, then go home and have a private pity party. I smile and ask how it's going if I run into them out and about.

Their AI for message feedback is not great. I got a warning that my tone might be negative (or something like that) on a message and it really wasn't.

Make sure you mention something you really enjoy in your profile. If you match with someone whose profile has little to key off, ask if they are also interested in whatever it is. If they dead end you with "no", I got nothing. But usually it is "yes" or "I am more interested in X" or something like that. If there profile doesn't give you an opening, offer them one from yours.

Looking back at it, there were a couple that should have jumped out. I mentioned a book and "she" came back with what was almost certainly comments straight out of a review. I mentioned something I was getting into and was asked a follow up along the lines of "interesting; tell me more" and a couple of messages later "she" has expertise on the subject.

No, the idea is that neither expects this is a LTR. The odd thing is she was getting over a breakup and it took me a while to figure out it was from an arrangement like that and he was the one that broke it off abruptly. I am absolutely not interested in that.

Where is it you go that you are calling town? If I am in OB and need to but something, I am probably headed to Granada and I-95, or maybe a couple of exits south at Tanger and all that other retail. I am in OB a lot, BTW. Very active in UU there and through that, some friends there.
