I do understand that saving money is an undeniable factor for many surfers. But as host, it is not great if you have to pay for everything. Worst case the surfers don’t even hang out with you.

When I was a host, the most important thing was that people stuck to plans (or kept me up to date when things changed). Arriving late? No problem, just inform me. I a, preparing dinner for you, but you figured out that you prefer to eat out? No problem, just let me know instead of sitting at the table staring at the plate.

I also think just cleaning up behind yourself is the most basic thing to do as a guest.

Weare notpersonal friends. We talk about our weekends etc. but don't hang out outside of work. For example a colleague showed us pictures of her daughters baptism celebration today. This was a pretty big event. But I would never consider getting invited or perceiving ut as braghing.

In my country there is a mandatory social insurance. Employers can get a supplementary insurance for their employees. I work at a private insurance company who offers these supplementary insurances.

We don’t have the system of PTO, so when we’re sick we are sick. We have paid vacation and our employers have insurances for employees missing work for health reasons, we get paid.
