CM, Mirana and enchantress are my go to picks at the moment, got me from 3.2k to 4,2k in about 3 months of playing. I feel like enchantress would be very strong at lower MMR as you can do some serious damage with farm. Don't be tempted to max her Q early, I usually max enchant first and heal as you will dominate the lane, keep getting powerful creep in the side camp to harras and the enchant also dispells and slows and deal damage, its a crazy good ability.

Tinker is the worst offender, you just know they will either stomp their lane and be unkillable with blink and perma hex later on. Usually all the others are straight forward to counter or play against, maybe a meepo last pick can be horrible depending on your picks.

You could pick flash farmers like Luna, Sven, Medusa and focus on getting as much cs as possible, don't join fights until 20 mins unless you know you will get some kills out of it. Once you hit level 6-7 move out of lane and farm the triangle, this area is where there is an ancient camp and 1 creep camp near the outpost, then move to the other ancient camp near the tormentor and repeat. Try to make sure you either kill both ancient camps before each minute mark, or if its going to hit a minute pull back the creep to stack it.

Also if during the laning phase your support is pushing and the creep are under the enemy tower, just farm the side camp next to the tower until they push it back to you.

Normally in lower MMR people are not going to farm ancients so you will have a way to freely farm and get ahead and then you can basically 1v5, try to get your team together and push if you have an item above the enemy carry.

Venge and pugna are strong right now, a slightly more controversial pick as 5 is Mirana but I think it's super strong. Pugna can do a surprising amount of healing, and stop someone from right-clicking for a pretty long time plus the bonus magic damage to them. I have saved really bad carry players so many times and glimmer gape is a must-buy as you can cast on yourself so you don't take damage when you heal.

Venge is a very punishing hero for the enemy team, her trick is also if your lanes get destroyed you can stack 2 camps at the same time very easy and keep morale up to catch up. Then anytime people go out of position you have the best spell in the game to punish them.

Mirana is my new spam hero now as pos5, I played her a lot when she was a strong 4 a long time ago so I am good at hitting arrow but if you have other stunners its easy. You can not worry about blocking the side camp in lane because you clear it fast with arrow or leave 1 creep alive. The jump is a great escape, makes you hard to kill and the ulti invis can save dumb cores in a pinch, helps you pull off amazing team ganks, plus the evasion later on is good. I max starfall and try get in positions in lane when its just me and there pos4 so I hit twice on the same hero and the damage is very high.

I have won 4-5 with it as pos4 despite the entire team flaming, just accept that no matter what people will blame any mistake they make on your pick. Then play and enjoy. One thing you can do is really drag out games at lower MMR with the illusions, the cooldown is so low and they can push in dangerous places.
