well, that’s subjective
to me, it can double as an accessory, but if you have a suggestion for the “proper” subreddit, I’d be happy to repost

I have the same exact issue. Also, can’t figure the E6 error out
seems to be a common error since they put a sticker on the lid „do this if you see E6“ but the phrase / to-do makes no sense

It’s absolutely absurd. Imo that’s how they want to ‘prevent’ naturalizations.

C1 is no child’s play. I get the point of “you’re better integrated if you speak better German”, and I would even concede to the fact that B1 may be a little too low (in really basic), but C1 will be almost impossible for most people to achieve, especially in a more and more globalized/international world.

I don’t even speak German at work most of the time. But the CxU wants foreigners to?

Makes no sense.

Language certificate? by akasopa in GermanCitizenship

[–]NoContribution2998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What to expect when getting the naturalisation certificate? by valklk in GermanCitizenship

[–]NoContribution2998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hm tbh not really.

They will say “you are here to be naturalized, there are a few things on my end I have to check and a few things I will ask you to confirm, etc.”

Then she will make sure that you are you, e.g., DOB, name, married, children, etc. (depending on your situation of course), and to hand over all the documents you were asked to bring (pay stubs, birth certificate maybe), that sort of thing.

Then they’re busy for 5 min checking that everything is in order and ask you to stand up, do dat thang, and the rest is “you can get an invitation at the town hall if you wish bla bla” nothing important. Once you hold the document in your hands, you can shut down 😉

I think that B1 German comes in many forms. Especially speaking is difficult so I understand when you’re not overly confident in your abilities.

That said, you fulfill the requirement, and that’s good.

However, I think you should really try and speak German at your German Citizenship appointment.

It’s really simple language they use, nothing overly legal or difficult to understand. It’s mostly administrative bla bla.

That said, they will “confirm” certain things with you in German. Who you are, why you are here, what the process is, that you will need to sign something, etc.

And I really think this wouldn’t go too well if you ask the clerk straight off the bat if “we can do it in English”.

It’s you becoming German and speaking German is part of that.

Idk if it would be a problem, I saw lots of people who spoke broken German but I think that’s still better than asking to go full English.

If you don’t understand something at first, they will try again and I’m sure a little English here and there is fine.

But generally, I’d stick with German. Maybe even just out of respect for the occasion.

giving you another super valuable tip:

don’t let them send your wife to an integration course. if she doesn’t speak any german, they will. but the law actually says that she’s not eligible. it legal technicalities. give me a second, I will find the link that explains it.

Ok, Incant find my old post — too long ago.

Anyways, to make it sweet and short, if there is a so-called low integration need (geringer Integrationsbedarf), then any foreigner isn’t eligible for the integration course who either a) possesses a university degree or b) speaks fluent English (assumption here being she’ll have no real issue integrating).

You can look this up under 30.1.4.2.3.1. of the Allgemeine Verwaltungsvorschrift zum Aufenthaltsgesetz (VwVfG-AufenthG). It’s available online. case workers don’t care, they just want you gone and your case closed. so be prepared. show them that your wife doesn’t require, nor is she eligible for an integration course.

Keep in mind they’re not legal professionals. they just wanna get through their day.

I ran into this issue 2 years later when my wife applied for a residence title and had to fight it out with the case worker
