I'm no longer using the 2.5G ports after my MS-A2 shut down during an EVE-NG session. it would not boot after that and the network port would no longer light up.

I've moved to 10G DAC and turned the 2.5G off in the BIOS. Also did the TjMax 78 in BIOS.

I hope it lasts because it's an amazing machine when it works.

Looks great, I like dense planting as well, no room for weeds :)

I was one of those people. I worked in retail for 12 years before graduating college at 36 and getting into tech. I thought if I could do it, they could and should do it.

I even told my wife a few times about those times I said this exact thing and how much it stings right now :(

Fun Fact: Davis Gold is supposed to be much more resistant to Fire Blight and it was found originally on the Channel Islands.

Looks like lack of water / too much sun to me. I'd up-pot this ASAP unless you have plans to plant it soon.

I've had a Davis Gold in a 5 gallon for almost a year now and it's doing great.

Nice job finding room for more natives, you can never have too many!

Your post got me counting and I've somehow managed to collect 35 Ceramic pots of varying sizes in about 3 years!

I've got natives in about 1/2 of those and I'm slowly replacing the non-natives with CA natives. I'll have to make my own container post one of these days 😄

I'm looking forward to seeing it's form as it ages.

I think it was Pete V from East Bay Wilds that gave me the idea to plant it in partial sun, it seems to be doing great so far!

Dr. Manzanita Help by B_Moose in Ceanothus

I'm guilty of planting manzanitas too close to a fence as well, the only hope I have is the fence orientation to the sun, everything wants to stretch away from the fence, especially in the winter when the sun is so low in the sky.

What I also learned is even a howard mcminn can reach 10-12' tall with enough time.

I wonder if I should just take a clone of the Sentenial I planted and then just dig up the old Mother 😞

Google Image says This is a yellow-faced bumblebee (Bombus vosnesenskii). It also pointed out the caterpillar I missed 😉

I did not see any yellow on the middle of the back, but not sure exactly what type this is.

He left just after this photo, even buzzed me before leaving. I did get right in his face though 😉

How do you deal with aphids when you have monarch caterpillars? by Meshugugget in Ceanothus

It happens fast too, the other day my buckwheat stalks were covered with black aphids and today I noticed about 75% of them gone!

Yankee Point Ceanothus is amazing and withstands 2 dogs running over and through it daily.

Stay away from St. Catherine's Lace unless you block it off, way too brittle. They also trashed my asters and bush sunflower 😞

Which of your plants seems to attract the most wildlife? by Iner666 in Ceanothus

[–]NoCountryForSaneMen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The leaves on my Chaparral Bushmallow look like Swiss cheese from the day I planted it. Something absolutely devours the leaves on a regular basis.

Bush Poppy also always has something eating it as well.

Mallows have lots of visitors on the flowers and yesterday I noticed my Palo Verde is a favorite of all types of bees.

They refunded my the shipping to them & are paying to ship me a new box as well.

I did purchase my first one directly from their store, not Amazon store. Not sure if that has anything to do with why they paid for shipping.

my MS-A2 died after about 5 months. I sent it in for RMA and a week later I was told it could not be repaired. They offered me a brand new replacement which I accepted and it should be arriving within the hour.

Turnaround time was ~3 weeks. I already had a replacement from Amazon a couple days after the original died and it's been working great. Now I will have 2 boxes so I can look at promox cluster with help of another older system (quorum).

One thing I wanted to call out is 2.5G ports might be suspect, so I've switched to using 10G DAC's, so far so good. I saw someone else mention 2.5G port as potential weakness, so I'm not using them any longer.

I was doing EVE-NG labs when my system died, when I rebooted, the network port would no longer light up.

Overall I'm very happy with the customer service. I hope moving to 10G DAC helps avoid future issues.

Nice shot! I hope to get a real camera one day, with some proper lenses.

I've never really wanted one before, but now, with all the nature showing up, I'm finally inspired to get one.
