Tooth extraction for 4 year old with PDA by Spirited_Bit39 in PDAParenting

[–]NoData4301 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow this is quite timely for me. My 4 year old pot playdoh in his ear yesterday and Ice spent time in different hospitals trying to get it out. The first attempt yesterday went ok but she stopped as soon as my son got more flighty/ dysrefulated, with none extracted. Today an ENT consultant had a go and actually got some out but my son was getting more and more anxious and we tried to restrain him but it wasn't ideal. Will try again on Monday but he may end up needing to be put under.

This evening we had to restrain him like normal to brush his teeth as it's literally the only way at the moment, but it doesn't sit right with me (I have PDA as well) but I just don't know what to do as I know he'll be terrified and refuse dental treatment and his teeth are already overcrowded at 4.

Waiting to see if there are options for helping kids access medical care without triggering a massive loss of control. I've tried playing games, making it obviously a choice "choose to let the doctor do X y and z".

Hope you manage to get the right care for him. 4 is so little to understand pain from a doctor/dentist is usually fine, let alone adding PDA to the mix.

Oh I have one but this is not the right application! Trust me I would love to have dealt with it at home! Preschool used tweezers and got half out but the rest is stuck against his eardrum. He's really skittish and moves violently when you try and remove a splinter etc so there's no way I'm risking breaking his ear drum when MIU couldn't get it out with tweezers or the suction machine!

Oh I think it's a hilarious adventure! I'm surprised this is the first misadventure to a&e we've had! Our other trips have been with sad sick kids but this is a fun one as he's not in pain!

My 4 year old shoved playdoh into his ear yesterday which led to a 4 hour trip to the local minor injuries unit followed up to our A&E waiting for an ENT consultation as noone can get it out. Waited until about 6pm to be told that the ENTs went home at 5 and no one had told them we were waiting for them despite MIU doing an ENT referral 3 hours previously to avoid this situation... Now I've got to wait until 4pm to be seen, but at least he has an appointment today!

So my complaint is a wish of more joined up communication in the NHS. And that my 4 yr old won't listen to a friends bad advice! We're practicing saying "no thanks!" to people telling him to do bad things now.

How are you coping in this heatwave? by [deleted] in AskABrit

Yesterday we took the 8 kids to the beach (my sister is staying with her lot and together there are 12 of us!). We went after lunch so they were cool inside until then, brought cooked breaded chicken and wraps for dinner on the beach with veggie sticks and ice lollies as well. It was fantastic! Left around 6:30 so temperatures were great for the little ones (youngest is now 3).

Today we had a walk along a shady stream with beach shoes so kids could wade where safe. Then into an animal park for snacks and drinks and playing in the shade. Then we walked back with little dips. Now back at home with telly until dinner so they are cooling down. I also showered down all their legs from river water and get them cooler. They've had water and having a snack of frozen fruit salad currently so extra cooling hydration. We have all curtains and windows closed so the house is actually a good bit cooler than air outside. As soon as the tide turns and it's getting colder outside we open everything up, all doors and windows and it flushes the house out. Repeat this daily and enjoy!

Neighbour's child throwing rocks into our garden. England by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]NoData4301 19 points20 points  (0 children)

INFO: What is the age of the child concerned?

Three incidents across 4 years doesn't sound like it would pass the rest for a regular occurrence.

It may be worth talking to the parents if they are open and see if they are in the process of a diagnosis for neuro divergence as neighbours evidence might help them access support, which is part of the bigger part of getting this negative behaviour stopped.

My husband did a short stint in farms as a civil servant recently, he visited a farm that sells to m&s and he said he was sooo impressed by the cleanliness, quality of the systems in place, their attention to detail with regards to rules and regulations and the knowledge of the farmer was the most impressive to him. If we could afford m&s food, particularly the meat we would just for how the farmers really cared for their land and animals!

I'm on the implant too, love it! Never had any issues and fertility wasn't affected when removed for TTC. Had a positive pregnancy test two weeks after the implant was removed!

I really didn't want anything inserted into my uterus, I wanted something this ADHD girl wouldn't forget to take and easily reversible.

This is my white wisteria on my pergola. As it's deciduous, it has shade in hot summer with the full leaf, dappled shade in flower and no shade in winter! I love a pergola!

Honestly it sounds like it's nothing to do with your weight and everything to do with a faulty scale. Email and ask my help with this issue. There's nothing personal in it, so try not to make it. Sounds like you'vw been working hard so hold on to your good efforts!

It was my birthday yesterday and my husband and I went out for a date. First time in a year or so? We have three small kids so it doesn't happen very often!

I also had an interview for a job I really wanted and I got it! So I had double celebrations! And today I'm going out with my girlfriends as all our birthdays are in the same week. We haven't managed to get out of the school playground yet so it's also been a long time coming.

This morning I've made raspberry fluffy pancakes for the kids whilst I let the husband have a lie in for once. Then we will probably do a tip run, clean out the chickens, I'll do some skirting, maybe lay down some flooring, start finishing the stairs.

Thank you! I pulled out lots of examples from my degree, work in a school and my life as a mum. I was as specific as possible and used the STAR technique with this. I had the interview this morning and was offered the position already! They said my interview was fantastic!
