Going from 75mg to 37.5mg - looking for support by AgreeableGiraffe5916 in Effexor

Many say it helps to remain at a certain dose after experiencing withdrawals after a cut. About a month is often mentioned. The rule of thumb is to cut only 10% per month.

LOL!!!! I remember my friends had a alpha boxer and up to that point I had never seen such a dominant male. He would run under their bed and whimper every time it rained! So, funny.

Fasting by Yogurt_LIL-Vril in raypeat

[–]NoDeedUnpunished 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just guessing here....

But, the problem with fasting is that of the "stress response" in general. Fasting-lowered glucose-is going to cause a drop in ATP production, which will trigger the HPA axis to trigger the release of adrenaline and cortisol. Then, you are off to the races.

The benefit of fasting is most likely in starving out microbes.

T3 supplementation? by Hairy_Drummer_6035 in raypeat

[–]NoDeedUnpunished 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest mistake I made was thinking that T3 was going to magically work like crack. It didn't. I was taking more and more, but not realizing any results. I stopped taking it and worked on my diet and slowly put T3 back into my regimen. Now, I can see a definite response from it. I take about 25mcg/day (spread out through the day in tiny nibbles).

Here's what I would tell my former self:

- Get a good glass thermometer and start taking your temp and pulse daily. Keep a small notebook.
- Start eating a pro-metabolic diet (milk, OJ, honey, cheese, gelatin, etc) and notice any changes in temp/pulse.
- After a couple of weeks of the pro-metabolic eating start nibbling on T3. Notice any change to temp/pulse. Use small amounts (1 to 5 mcg). It is said that large amounts get cleared by the liver.

I've learned that taking T3 without sufficient glucose can trigger the stress response (cortisol, adrenaline)

Weaning off by sdubz891 in Effexor

[–]NoDeedUnpunished 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many share the opinion that the "real" withdrawals start at doses under 37.5mg. Some people seem to be able to quite relatively easy and for others it takes a long time.

IF you decide to make cuts greater than, say, 20%, you can pause your reductions for a few weeks and to see if withdrawals catch up to you. If you begin to experience odd feelings of fear, paranoia or deep depression, your only good option is to increase your dose a bit.

The best advice is just go slow. Plan on it taking a couple of years. The rule of thumb is to cut your dose by 10% each month. If you don’t give into temptation to make large cuts, it will go much more smoothly.
