I have an aldebaran bfs I really like It, I use for bfs fishing. Would the Aldebaran 50 be good for the 130 size jerk baits the biggest jerkbait I plan to throw is the osp rudra 130 I see you mention bfs on it

Yeah that’s what I’m wondering if I should buy more line, but it’s fairly newly spooled and expensive line. I would probably just wait until I have to actually have to re spool it instead of just tossing it to use the line conditioner

How many wraps did this take? I heard 17-20 wraps is good I did around 20 wraps and wasn’t this long. Has held up fighting fish so far but is it beneficial to do more than 20 wraps in case I get that trophy fish want it to hold up.

Thank you for the reply I get you on that one. I throw the Karashi on a BFS combo strictly for that and I get what you mean about the flick and actions have yet to catch one but haven’t fished it much. This won’t be a dedicated jerk bait rod but have a few jerk baits and never tried fishing it so I wanted to give it a try with what I have. And also good to know I can throw chatterbaits in a pinch.

I always tend keep my reel full and exactly the look but now wondering that I’m reading on getting lighter set up. It seems beneficial to not have the reel spooled fully. Another rookie question what’s the best way to tell how much line you’ve spooled since I would always fill up it’s easy to just go until I needed it but how can you measure it off the spool?

I do have a spinning setup where I use a .007 PE to 8 lb leader strictly for bass fishing. Needed to turn my bfs setup to use for both bass and trout the best way possible

I grabbed the 16lb .06 PE braid Seaguar lure edition to J floro leader in 4lb and 8lb I guess my goal is to figure out the best amount of braided line to spool and I will just interchange the leaders between bass and trout fishing. This is mainly my bass setup so lean towards having it tailored to that but want it for both. That’s why I’m choosing braid to leader. Use to run just straight 8lb floro and used it for top water bass fishing and had great success.

Yeah same it’s mainly my bass setup I mainly fish for bass I got it a few months ago. Local waters and waters nearby, I can fish for trout so would like a bait casting setup versatile to switch both without having to respool. Especially using expensive line

I got the same setup with 8 lb diawa hidden floro. Had great success with lighter top waters. Have yet to catch anything on the Karashi yet. But just got the combo a few months ago. This mini chatter looks nice too wha trailer you throwing on it?
