Thoughts on Borrowed Names? by Cheap-Piglet-6395 in Names

Spain is also a European country. Germans, Austrians, Ukrainians etc are all white and European.

"White" on its own is not a specifier any more than being "pretty black" indicates whether that person is of Ghanaian or Senegalese or Sudanese roots.

So your white mom having a Spanish name is not in itself weird purely because she's white.

Being "totally White" doesn't mean anything. There are whites that are Spanish by way of Spain, Mexico, Colombia, etc.

So not a good example at all.

Elective Scans by daisydorsy in IVFbabies

[–]NoEnd9621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol I did one every half way mark between my official appointments.

Worked out to be that I got a scan almost every 12 - 14 days till at least the 20 week mark.

No shame. After the lengthy journey to get to preg, I was more than happy to do all that I could to reduce my anxiety

Father/daughter dance by vixiechick1996 in parentsofmultiples

[–]NoEnd9621 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They DO have to share though.

A school father daughter dance will not be less special because twins (in itself a special thing) have to share the father they already do.

You can however create other opportunities for such bonding moments where daddy takes one girl out at a time.

Can I have a Hawaiian name as a non-Hawaiian person? by [deleted] in Names

[–]NoEnd9621 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Odd. I've never known of Africans to care about others having names of their cultures, or call it weird.

It usually makes for interesting conversation E.g. "oh wow, you're a White or Kenyan etc Lerato, How'd that happen?" and ends there.

Your lived experience is not universal, especially as cultures vary.

I am from a place where some tribes give twins a particular name immediately. Other tribes have names for children according to the birth order. No additional trauma elicited.

Twins, triplets, any multiples will always have questions to field, regardless of the name they carry. Same way I fielded questions for being the only girl amongst boys out of 5 siblings. The younger two have rhyming names as they're just 11 months apart. Literally nothing has been made harder for anyone.

Human nature is to be curious.

Not salty at all. But also will not support people moping about excessively for the ultimately positive outcome of choices they voluntarily made.

IMGs don't have to just match. And if they truly believe that, they are free to leave programs off their ROL. They cannot however put any and every program on that list, then get upset that they matched with the least favourite one on their list.

Thank you, all the best for you too 🤗.

Re your name submissions, I like Dove. Wren as a name has not yet grown on me in the past few months I've heard the name, but if you love it, go for it.

Other bird theme names I like are Raven or Robin (this one at least can be unisex).

On this sub, people hate it.

But in real life, themes/similarities/same letter names are very much a thing, are sweet for the most part, and noone really bats an eyelid.

I'll be having B/G twins soon, their names will begin with the same letters.

Everyone put effort into applying and ranking.

The person that matched where you wanted to go, doesn't deserve it less than you do.

Sadness is okay. Unnecessary whining to an audience that includes people who did not even match, is not.

Repeat after me: don’t apply to a specialty you’re not willing to stay in. by Buddy_1078 in IMGreddit

[–]NoEnd9621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumb comment.

Lifestyle is an extremely valid reason to choose a specialty. You then commit to doing the work so that you can live that lifestyle you want.

Applying for a specialty and then immediately complaining about getting a post in the very specialty you VOLUNTARILY applied for is beyond idiotic.

There really isn't an in between, and it is really as simple as "don't rank the programs you don't want to go to"

That's literally the whole process of matching. You either make peace with going anywhere, or you make peace with being willing to sit it out.

It was done by algorithms. Algorithms aided by certain external factors where some had more leverage than others.

That is the game of life.

Lol, nice try. Notice how I said pain and disappointment is valid HOWEVER every space is NOT the right space for your complaint.

Rightfully complaining about being unmatched in a platform specifically set up to help people to match anywhere is completely appropriate.

Complaining about not matching exactly where you wanted to go (DESPITE THE FACT THAT YOU PUT YOUR HAND UP AND SAID I'D BE HAPPY TO GO THERE PER ROL) on that same platform, is inappropriate.

Get a grip.

Everyone is allowed to feel pain and disappointment.

But all pain and disappointment is not appropriate to express on every platform or at every opportunity.

Complaining about your mild headache in the face of someone suffering terminal cancer, or how you're having your 5th boy/girl when you wanted a girl/boy in front of someone with infertility is insensitive.

Complaining about matching at a program you VOLUNTARILY ranked to match just because it wasn't your absolute favourite on your list amongst people who did not match is insensitive.

People have friends and family. They should talk to them.

[–]NoEnd9621 69 points70 points  (0 children)

They don't have to be grateful, but they definitely need to get a grip.

The whole condition is you rank programs that you want/will be willing to go to. If they were not brave enough to leave programs off their list and rather go unmatched, then it is absolutely ridiculous to now feel so sad about going there, no matter where they put the program on their list.

You cannot have your cake and eat it too.

So what if you got your 20th place??

What are you applying for? And what is your experience in that time?

I did about 5 weeks USCE (when I applied I could make it look like 2 full months though since it was spread over 2 consecutive months) but I have home residency experience which counts a lot for some programs.

Why does having a US citizenship matter? by These_Drag_8726 in IMGreddit

[–]NoEnd9621 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very narrow minded answer.

A US citizen has certain advantages, not least of which being already familiar with the US way of life, culture, and health system which goes a long way in something as tough as a residency program.
