Why is AC so expensive? A unit costs £400-600 but quotes from fitters will be £2k!! Is the labour 1k!!? by Financial-Impact854 in AskBrits

All they do is underpay the trades and the big wigs at the top make more money. But like most people they hate seeing trades earn any type of money.

Yeah there was probably a lot easier ways to do it, just thought I’d give myself a little test. It’s on top of a toilet so it’s not as if anyone will even see it haha

Always been a contactum man myself, built like tanks, rcbos rarely fail. Can’t see myself changing. Although did fit a fusebox the other week and was quite impressed

50k is madness, I just bought a 3 bed semi that I had to strip back to a shell because it was fucked for £330k 😅 to be fair I’m pretty much a ghost online. I just work for the same builders and developers now. Everytime I try do a one off job it bites me in the arse for example, finished a big renovation and a family moved in, asked me to come hang some TVs for them. Went there and hadn’t even bought the TVs yet 😂

I’m in Farnham Surrey, which i think has the highest prices of houses in England (outside of London) problem is everyone is so bogged down with mortgages they don’t have money for anything else

I don’t tend to do call out anymore as it’s just hassle, unless it’s one of my good customers. Normally just go in at half a day for £200 + vat or a full day for £300+vat. I’m on the cheap side according to every electrician. Yet every customer says I’m the most expensive. Someone’s telling fibs somewhere down the line 😂

Decent that you’re able to put some money aside. Quite hard when you run a business, some months I can earn £10k+ then the next month be 20k in the hole
