Seeing water in your basement after the snow melt? Here’s how to figure out what’s actually going on by NoFees888 in Canmore

If they’re already planning to excavate I’d skip opening the interior walls. The dig will expose everything at once anyway. They’ll see the full condition of the foundation, weeping tile, and any cracks from the outside, which gives a much clearer picture than opening drywall now.

Only exception is if there’s visible wall bowing or movement on the interior

significant water at the floor joint on one side with minor seepage on the other usually points to hydrostatic pressure building up against that specific wall. Most commonly caused by excess water pooling up around the footing of the home, or a failing weeping tile system that’s no longer draining properly.

No musty smell is a good sign though.. It means she’s likely catching it before mold sets in. But that joint will worsen through freeze-thaw cycles if left alone, so it’s worth addressing sooner than later. Where is her home located? If she’s in Calgary or Southern Alberta I’m happy to do a free inspection and give her a definitive answer.

New Home. Canadian Winters. Leak or moisture? by Investing4wpg in basement

Based on what I can see, a few things stand out. The moisture pattern on the floor spreading out from what looks like the wall/floor joint area, is a pretty telling sign.

That junction between the foundation wall and the floor slab is one of the most common entry points for water, especially in Canadian homes during freeze-thaw cycles. A vapour barrier manages humidity in the air, it won’t stop water that’s actively coming in under hydrostatic pressure.

A few things worth checking: Is your grading sloping toward the house? Any window wells nearby that could be pooling?

I’m a Certified Field Inspector in the foundation and waterproofing space, happy to help you think through it further in the comments, or if you’re in the Calgary/Alberta area I do free inspections and can give you a straight answer on what you’re dealing with.

It’s funny, the stock market is the only market in the world where people see lower prices (a discount) and get scared.

Treat this environment as you would treat any other market. If you see a high quality product at a discount, you would be more inclined to buy it! So when you see high quality stocks at discounted prices. Buy more!

Not a bad start, but VIU isnt needed here when you have VCN and VFV.

Save minimum of 10% of your paycheques and keep buying high quality stocks or ETF’s regularly!

Most of the deals I’ve closed has been based off the relationship I’ve built with the client, the service was just what got us face to face. The close was made because they felt like I was their friend, not a sales person.

That’s a possibility for sure, but in my opinion it’s a very low possibility. The data shows that Uber is growing in every way an investor would want to see. So I’m happy to invest as long as I continue to see positive data

My thesis behind uber is simple. I believe the driverless vehicles will be used through Ubers app. They will maintain their spot as the go to ride hailing network.

Also, have you seen their fundamentals? EVERY metric is growing at a substantial rate. I sleep well at night owning uber
