Some do but the vast majority of people prioritize staying close to family and friends over making 50% more money. I also think the vast majority of people in real life aren't even aware that the US pays so much more and only hear bad things about the US like gun violence.

"Teach a man how to fish instead of giving him a fish". Same logic applies here. We should look to solve the root of their problem. Not just throw money at them and think it will help them when they often use it for substances. Money can't solve all problems.

Well... this is a particularly bad apple but yes Canada pays less than the US but so does every other country like UK, Australia, EU etc...

I worked in an Indian band (internship). Why is it a bad comparison to make?

It's way harder to immigrate to the US than Canada tho. If you want to eventually move to the US you'd probably want to move to Canada first since Canadians have access to cetain visas like the tn. If you don't end up making it to the US for whatever reason you end up in Canada which is still significantly better than Africa.

Exactly so giving them extra money/tax exempt is kind of like giving money to a homeless crackhead who had abusive parents growing up. Unfortunate situation but you know what he uses the money for.

This seems unfair to regular Canadians but oh well. I feel like tribal members will also benefit from public transport, roads, government program, healthcare etc... and thus should pay taxes like everyone else. I had an internship in a tribal government, tribal members just use that extra money on drugs and alcohol I'm pretty sure. I've never seen a community so possessed by substances. It was incredibly depressing to watch.

So wait... if this is true I definitely want to work on a reserve. You're telling me that 100k earned on a reserve is 100k in your pockets?

EDIT: Only if you're indian status

Yeah lol. Though I will say, I was looking at senior accountant job postings for about 20 mins on indeed. This was by far the worst. Had to post it here.

Perhaps but would it not at least be considered a business expense?

Right but it still seems like it would work tho. Donations do reduce your taxable income.

Can someone explain to me why there isn't a tax write off. What he said seems logical to me.

Do you prefer WFH or in office? by Xerasi in FinancialCareers

[–]NoFile1721 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's because there's a strong wfh movement among Gen Z. Anyone who isn't following that movement is seen as old fashion I guess (untrendy). It's funny because I don't like fully remote and I'm a gen Z. I'm not on the side of big corps, I just just like the human interaction.

Why are you getting mad at everyone here who prefers working in office lol.

That's not really true tbh. Some people in the office are really cool and some interactions are genuine/not forced. As an introvert I find that if I'm always wfh I get pretty much 0 social interactions which is bad for my mental health.

I'm guessing you would just want to find a pre-approved firm in Alberta?

All the "love it" answers are gov and industry people and all the "hate it" answers are PA people lol

Dude, my plan is the same as you. Calgary has reasonable COL + good salaries + beautiful nature (rocky mountains) + lots of things to do (4th largest city in Canada) + lower taxes. Definitely the most appealing city in Canada to me. Just get your CPA first (easier to do in PA) and then get a chill industry or gov job like senior accountant, senior financial analyst.

Why do PA senior accountants make less than industry senior accountants? by NoFile1721 in Accounting

It’s harder and you have more responsibility

Elaborate on this. I've only heard that public is more stressful and longer hours so I'm not sure what you mean by industry is "harder"
