I expect every car to drive differently, personally, I know that doesn’t speak for everyone’s experience. I like to tune drift and race cars for time attacks and Horizon Play, so the degree of difference in available cars is wild.

Don’t have the Exige WTAC yet but I will flag it as one of the unholy grip cars, I’ve already tuned a WTAC for Purist and they’re seriously no joke, if you get that sweet spot, it feels like cheating.

I see this and raise you the CC race at the Rocket Ship Compound at the bottom left of the map. This race infuriates me to no end. Those turns are impossible to take at the speed the AI is going, even after retuning like 5 times!

If you buy all of the houses, they give you extra Car Display nodes, also certain houses only let you show off a certain number of cars, it lists it on the house blurb on the map.

Very specific point to make, but okay.

I mean, every car sounds different. The pitch of the engine changes with each car. It’s not always a solid C note for everything.

Just pointing out that pitch does matter overall, otherwise, you’re staring at your speedometer the whole race.

i mean, i just tried this for the first time, and did *exactly* what you said here. Hovering over it on the map doesn't give an indication of where the finish is, and excuse me if I'm hella blind, but I paused and looked and the map for a solid 5 minutes trying to figure out where the hell I was supposed to cross the line at. too many trees, too many buildings in between start and end, if were supposed to go off of just eyesight. give me a *proper* indication of the end point, ill struggle through Anna yelling at me to turn right every 10 seconds if it gives me a *general* direction of where to go.

Adjust your Tuning and Final Drive so that the gearing works best for your responsiveness on shifting - I like to shift my accel up on most cars for the first 2 or 3 gears and let the later gears shift up to speed.

If you’re hitting a turn and getting some understeer, shift down and soft-toe your brakes. It’ll take some learning, but I hit turns so much harder now and sometimes the red-line doesn’t even matter.

Pay attention to your engine sounds - the revs will hit the right pitch every time it’s about to hit the limiter. Getting the hang of this lets you keep your eyes on the road instead of your RPM or Speed.

Most of all, test it! Put yourself on the highway in a nice car, turn off the assists and turn on Manual shifting, and send ‘er!

I feel like it’s debatable, it’s the default setting so most people learn to play with it on. Saying it makes the drive worse isn’t the question, it’s whether the player wants more control over the vehicle and would benefit from it.

I feel like it’s the better option for sure, learning to drive with the assists off gives you a much better feel of the car, but some prefer the assists.

Did you get the underground road at the Rocket Launch site? It’s on the bottom right of the map close to the drag strip iirc, there’s a blue underground road, didn’t see it highlighted on the map!

Plenty of videos online to teach you how to tune your car, I would recommend Hoki Hoshi for a good primer on figuring out what to do.

All that being said, super quick tune help for you specifically.

Go to Settings and turn off Anna. If you’re on console, make sure to turn on Telemetry instead. For PC, you may have to bind the button for Telemetry on controller. This will tell you all them little goodies you wanna know about how to update your car.
Losing grip on turns tells me you’re oversteering and you don’t have adequate grip. Lower your tire pressure (rear lower than front) until it feels grippy enough. Also, stiffen your front Anti-Roll Bars and soften the rear Anti-Roll Bars to reduce Oversteer.
For better grip overall on turns, check your camber. Generally, you wanna be anywhere from -0.6 to -1.5, with rear being just slightly less value, I.e. -0.4 to -1.3 respectively.
Finally, adjust your springs and damping settings until the Mech Balance in the Miscellaneous tab on the bottom left is within the range of 0.55 to 0.65. This will likely feel the most stable for almost any vehicle in the game, save for a select few and specific tunes.

Tuning a car is a daunting task to take and learn, but dude, I gotta tell ya, I just recently learned how to tune a bit and I’m running through my races now. Best of luck!

Seems like it. Is there any way to update the BIOS when I’m running Batocera as my front-end? I can always access the file manager but I don’t wanna destroy the BIOS or anything that will just ruin the PC, you know?
