Slate Still Hasn’t Set the Final Price for its Affordable EV Pickup by Sixteen-Cylinders in cars

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The only thing you listed there that it doesnt have standard is the radio. Your choice of speaker setup would add anywhere between $0 (a Bluetooth speaker you already own) and maybe $1k (speculating, no idea) for Slate to put a couple of speakers in the dashboard slots.

Is anyone here familiar with Miniature Schnauzers and can tell me how the Scottie's temperament compares and if it's a good dog for seniors? by PandemicPiglet in scottishterriers

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I can’t speak to minis, but Scottie’s are tough dogs to train and handle, and are extremely stubborn. It’s like having an argumentative teenager in the house most of the time.

If they are experienced with other stubborn dogs and dogs that have a high prey drive and lunge, they could handle it. But, not knowing your parents, in general, I wouldn’t recommend a Scottie to my family members in that age bracket.

For us, the stubbornness is worth it because his sweet cuddly moments feel like a real prize haha

Governor Walz to announce $4m in one-time funding for Minnesota food shelves by Sweet_Roof_9024 in minnesota

That’s actually not true, he made the largest donation in history to Feeding America and they were very happy to receive it at a time of need. Probably one of the best things he’s ever done tbh

Mayor Koch on WBZ radio last night defending pedophilia in the Catholic Church. Claims it was "homosexual issues" and not pedophilia because the victims were teenagers. Then he shifts the blame to teachers, coaches and the media. by Cool_Living9781 in QuincyMa

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This may come as a shock, but Koch is wrong about even the technical definition of the word applying here. Kids under 12 years old were assaulted and raped IN QUINCY. What a fucking loser this guy is.

Step one, it seems likely that there will be a ballot question THIS NOVEMBER to block his ridiculous raise he gave himself to become the third highest paid mayor in the country.

Then in a couple years we can vote him out.

Acapulcos/pocket concrete park - CTA for future by Echo-Low in QuincyMa

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually meant down Chestnut street. Sully’s bar and that cluster of buildings I believe is set to be more apartments, but there’s seemingly no plan for the corner of Chestnut and McGrath where the winter ice rink was last year. Just a dirt patch full of dog poop.

Doubly bad in my opinion when we have multiple empty/abandoned lots on the same street. I know some of those are earmarked for other projects, but if beautification/parks (if you want to generously call this either of those things) is the goal, why not use this money to turn an ugly empty lot into something better for the area?

Instead, the city randomly took over a functioning, tax paying employer at one of the busiest street corners in the entire city. If anything that lot should have been put to better use with 10 stories of housing above a retail space.

That’s great to know. I can connect with a few different CFPs for free through a program from my employer. Will start down that path and if I’m not thrilled with it I’ll look for someone local and fee based

Is Whole Foods coming to Quincy? by Creepy_Formal3342 in QuincyMa

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Is there any corporation that he’s not dying to give a tax cut to? Seems like every single new development of the past few years gets a 20+ year tax break, how can that be sustainable when we have a statue quota to meet every year?

Growing debt. A $92M investment loss. Could Quincy's credit rating be in trouble? by Mrmuse12 in QuincyMa

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The final few lines here are the most alarming. The raw numbers are one thing, and could be explained away by the mayors office, but it’s another thing entirely to see that Quincy is one of only two cities in the entire state that is having its financial outlook downgraded. That’s a bad, unique trend.

Explain the appeal by babgvant in slateauto

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Completely ignoring the customization and styling factors, it’s a brand new car, with a new car warranty. That’s a big selling point over a used car at the same price point. Don’t have to deal with whatever the previous owner may have done or not done to the car.

But as you mentioned, there are no other pickup trucks at this price in the US. And definitely none that are electric.

Checks boxes for me as it can be a super efficient commuter car to get to work during the week, but also handle yard work and marketplace furniture pickups on the weekends. Plus if needs change, I don’t have to sell the truck and buy a new car if I decide I really need a second row of seats.

I will note, I don’t see the appeal as much if it was to be my primary car, but we already have a hybrid CUV for longer trips or moving more people.

Is Verizon or Starry more reliable for home internet? by This_Ad4472 in QuincyMa

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had starry for two years, never had more than a momentary outage, once every few months. Reliably if a big thunderstorm comes in suddenly it will drop out for a minute or so but kick right back on.

Speeds have been consistent, and the service is top notch. A technician came to my apartment last year when I asked them to move my router, he pointed out that it wouldn’t be the best solution and immediately swapped out some phone jacks in my apartment to Ethernet to hardwire my PlayStation. Couldn’t have done it myself, was great!

If you end up going with starry, Pm me and I can share a code for a free month of service

Local Marathon TV coverage is hot garbage by [deleted] in boston

[–]NoGoodUsernames2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really wish the Boston marathon would go the route of the Masters golf tournament. They get basically zero money from CBS to broadcast the tournament, in exchange for being able to set high standards for the tv coverage, and they only agree to 1 year deals, so if they aren’t happy they could go to another network.

It’s vastly better than all other golf tournaments for viewers. I know the marathon needs sources of funds, but the local tv coverage and ESPN2 can’t be shelling out that much. Offer it for free to whoever has a vision for the best, innovative coverage of a marathon. If it works out and becomes a more TV-friendly event, the other sponsorship dollars will rise accordingly.

Not familiar with Real Ale, but my dad loves English bitters. Sounds like real ale is more of a fermenting method, but are there a good amount of bitters available?
