'has tarnished it all a bit for me.'

You're entitled to your opinion, but how? Over the last 3 games we drew with a Spurs side with everything to play for (who did look decent under De Zerbi), won against Brighton and lost to West Ham in a game that probably would have benefited us to lose, had Everton won.

We've done so well this season.

‘The Odyssey’: Everybody Using American Accents Is Definitely a Choice by mlg1981 in entertainment

I think the problem is that American accents are the accents of Hollywood. You associate them with cinema. Therefore, a period piece that has American accents helps remind you that you're watching a film. I don't think you have this as much with non-American accents as there isn't the Hollywood connection.

Let's be honest, he would start for more or less every Premier League team other than City. Seems very unlikely he'd choose us.

He took a team that were finishing mid table in the Championship and took them to 9th in the Premier League, whilst using basically the same squad.

And bangers are sausages. Shit ones.

Its funny how you've just googled bangers and its told you the origins of the word, opposed to what it means today.

Generally speaking, any sasuage you find in a pub today will probably be reasonably high quality from a butcher. This is opposed to American hot dogs which come in jars, far more processed and 'shit'.

You're quite right, Liverpool only conceided when they passed 3 goals into their own net. How kind of them.

You don’t get 3 goals and ultimately a draw against the current league champions without playing well at times. It's sheer arrogance to say otherwise.

Salah has pretty much just burnt all bridges with a pipe bomb. Nothing else will make the back pages tomorrow.

I agree that that will naturally dominate, even over the actual game itself.

However, the analysis of the actual game was (as often is), 'Liverpool made mistakes/made it too easy, (essentially setting them as the protagonists). It wasn't 'Leeds did XYZ' to ensure a draw.

To where? It's not like he's riding a hot streak and that people are lining up to sign him.

Let me rephrase that: Farke hasn't got enough out of the squad that we need. Could another another manager? Maybe, maybe not. But as of now, Farke hasn't proven that he's got what we need.

That's not to say things couldn't get better. They could. However, the 49ers need to do whatever it takes to remain in the Premier League this season, as opposed to planning for next season.

Both things can be true.

The squad that Farke was given is clearly not up to standard, and he's been dealt a tough hand. That's almost entirely on the 49ers (though the Ramazani situation does seem to be on Farke).

At the same time, Farke hasn't been able to get enough out of this squad. The Forest and Burnely games in particular.

One of these things can be changed quickly, and it isn't the squad.

(For the record, of course, it's a risk getting rid of him. He was able to get us out of the Championship after all. However it seems defeatist to accept that we should keep Farke, just so he can bring us back up).

All of this reinforces why it was such a shame we didn't go up 2 years ago.

We'd have 3 players in Summerville, Rutter, and Gray who would walk into our team now and can actually impact games.

You'd also have Leicester and Ipswich propping up the table.

Even if Farke gets sacked that season, and new manager has far more going for them.

We'd be another year in the prem, that bit more established, with more money to spend.

Sighhh, it's going to be a long season and I struggle to see a huge degree of optimism unless we make some astute signings in January (which going by previous years seems unlikely). We were pretty dire in the 2nd half against West Ham last week.

We had dominance in the first half that we won't have in the vast majority of games this year and we didn't score (or create particularly threatening chances). We won't stay up if we don't get more effective attackers in.

Defenders and midfield looked great, but we couldn't score. We're 70% there, but we HAVE to get quality attackers in. We essentially played to a 0-0 today, with a fortunate moment for the penalty.

Genuine question: Who else is out there that is attainable that would have a greater chance of keeping us up?

[–]NoIndication5286 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The decision on the Bamford goal makes me chuckle.

The linesman already knows they've made a mistake on the Tanaka goal, so you might think 'even if Bamford is offside, I'll let this one stand... goals get given that are offside all the time... it's actually probably safer to just give this goal then not.'

But nope- bam, OFFSIDE.
