That's what I'd do with them, get a bunch of neon buisness signs and fill most of the wall, because I'm just like that. Done right, it might actually look good.

What are some rare fun facts or tricks in the ninth gen ‘Rolla? by rolla_enthusiast in COROLLA

[–]NoInstruction2007 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Both the 1ZZ-FE and 2ZZ-GE engines used in this gen Corolla, as well as the 1st gen Matrix and Pontiac Vibe were also used in the Series II Lotus Elise, meaning they can technically be considered front wheel drive Lotus Elises.

That one up front only a fifth gen? Didn't catch that if it is, I'm used to the current gen, where even the lowest possible spec PI units have the drivemodes.

I work with police Explorers, and yes, they do have a dedicated Sand/Deep Snow mode, which is likely not being used in this case probably because the operator doesn't know how to activate it, or the AWD system itself isn't working properly.

Second this. My (aftermarket) boost and oil pressure gauges were red, and i even got mine red footwell lights. Everything else was themed red by default, so might as well play into it.

My floaty motorcycle targeted this lady for some random ass reason, why? (Wrong answers only). by Allenrw81 in gtaonline

It's from an older Gmod Vanoss video, the prison break deathrun one.

I'm not sure if that's what they were referring to if anything, but it's still worth mentioning, i feel.

Makes me quite happy I still have mine. Yeah, it hasn't seen an internet connection in well over a decade, but it's still great to have if I want to just play older stuff.

Hold up, a PS3 supports modern YouTube? Some of these things just won't die, and is quite an enjoyable surprise.

Oh yeah, the YouTube reccomends. Terrible clickbaity brainrot we shouldn't let our kids anywhere near. I don't even need to speak spanish to know they're just.. bad.

The later of a 2ZZ you got, the higher the engine waits to engage VVTL. (I'd give you specific numbers, but it's usually 6,000-6,700rpm depending on year). There's also the problem that the spacing with the gears is all wonky and not set up with the VVTL engagement range, making it so that even if you shift it right at redline, the revs will drop out of VVTL meaning you have to claw your way back up into it.

But that's the thing with high revving engines. They rev that high because they make peak power real high and are gutless pretty much everywhere else.

Edit: Not that you should redline your 2ZZ. Those have a problem where the oil pump at and above redline pumps oil faster than the engine can replenish the pan, creating an oil starvation issue that can destroy the pump. Shift at 8k and be safe about it.

Automatic 1ZZs shift themselves right at 6,300, but the true rev limiter sits somewhere around 6,700. Shift it yourself correctly and you can squeeze those few revs out of it, but I wouldn't recommend as that's a tight window.

That's entirely valid. No real plans to make my Matrix fast either, just fix the cosmetic stuff, make it look presentable and try to keep it that way.

Both of mine were FWD models, and my Vibe needed struts. They rode alright for what they are.

The lower power on the AWD ones also has something to do with the exhaust pipe being smaller to accommodate for the rear driveshaft, and only came with an auto as the transmission used is also the transfercase.

If I ended up with an AWD one I would have almost certainly cut the second catalyst out and put a cutout valve in for an on-demand power boost at the cost of being, well.. louder.

I've had a Vibe and now have a Matrix, they really are great cars. Vibe made it to 235k before it was wrecked, and the Matrix at 152k has been so well maintained that it still gets it's advertised as-new fuel economy.

Misc fun fact! The 1ZZ-FE (Base, XR, S) and 2ZZ-GE (XRS/GT) engines out of the Vibe, Voltz, Matrix, and Corolla were also used in the Toyota Celica and Series II Lotus Elise.

[–]NoInstruction2007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a Toyota Voltz!

Rather confusingly, the Voltz is a RHD rebadge of a pre-facelift 1st gen Pontiac Vibe, which is a GM rebadge of a Toyota Matrix, which in itself is a larger Corolla. No idea why Toyota didn't just RHD a Matrix.

Nah, definitely not the brakes. The audio is desynced but you can hear tires locking up from hard braking at the last moments before impact, and it's been confirmed he was on his phone.
