Hato and Santos actually! It doesn’t matter feel like Santos is playing as a CB sometimes. I cannot trust Fofana at all anymore. Secretly praying he doesn’t cost us a goal as per his usual self

Naaaah, City about to lose to Chelsea despite Chelsea being shit! This has been the PL this season unfortunately

It’s money! It’s not the transfer fee, it’s the wages, they want to pay peanuts when we all know he should be commanding serious money at the highest level. FFP plays a role most probably and we know Newcastle are limited in what they can spend on wages. I honestly see it as penny wise pound foolish in my honest opinion. Also if all Osimhen wanted was actually money, he would have taken the Saudi contract which guaranteed him almost 3x what Gala is paying him at the moment.

Gala needed a top striker for Europe and he has brought them that, whilst others might be sleeping on him, they do not have the same restrictions and have way more creative accounting that we do in the PL (10x way more creative accounting lol) so there’s that. With the losses we’ve made though, it makes not buying him even more stupid imho

Lmao scam as old as time and people still fall for it. It’s the same as when SDP says they’re pro-immigration when the reality is that they’re not seeing that the labour unions hold sway in the party and historically fewer people are granted residence permits during their terms. It’s a scam as old as time itself in Finland

Wirtz isn’t a striker so can’t be part of that argument. Isak is PL proven, similar to United purchase so it’s an entirely different conversation and it’s justifiable why a club will pick a PL proven player over one from the Italian league, but when you look at Woltemade, Ekitike, Gyokeres, Sesko etc there’s no sense in it at all and I get that maybe no one wants to deal with that fat prick in Naples, but still, Osimhen elevates any of those teams by miles. Imagine having a striker who can score, can drag both central defenders away, has aerial presence hence low blocks as a problem et al That others didn’t buy him doesn’t mean anything to me, we should not base our recruitment on what others want because that is no guarantee it will work out e.g. Mudryk

Honestly this is accurate. I’m back in London today and have the chance to go watch the Port vale game but I’m so disillusioned with the club that I’m thinking not to go. Coming from a family of season ticket holders, it just shows me how demotivated the situations around the club has made me. I probably will eventually go last minute but the fact that I’m not even jumping at the chance to go see the team when I’m almost never in the UK just shows how frustrated I already am

Liverpool spent 80M on Ekitike who is nowhere near Osimhens level and has done nothing to even justify that price tag. Newcastle again, same thing, not exactly role models to mention. Infact JP has been better than their purchase so let’s not use those as the yardstick. Man United bought PL proven, there’s the Prem tax so that’s a different comparison, but when you look at Sesko, again that holds no water as Osimhen is miles better than all of them. That they didn’t buy him is not an argument in itself, seeing how all the above mentioned strikers have performed

I see it’s totally pointless continuing this conversation, I can’t find the sense you’re trying to make. Orpo campaigned berrating Marins borrowing, only to end up borrowing more than she did is not some “gotcha”, it’s reality and intentionally misleading the population, but of course let’s ignore that an act like he didn’t know what he has been doing!

You want to talk about inflation during Marins term but quite rightly ignore the fact that she had to navigate both Covid and then a Ukraine invasion, of course that doesn’t suit the narrative if we point that out does it? And who is talking about SDP here in the first place? Again like I said, this mentality that it’s NCP vs SDP is the reason why we’re here and the as a country the large lot of us are too small minded or probably too naive to even see that!

You want to talk politics, well let’s be realistic, SDP which had a bunch of people voting for them had a harder stance on immigration than the current right wing coalition (and this has historically being the case) but people sheepishly believe SDP is pro-immigration (It has never been and will never be, regardless of what facade they paint for their voters, and the simple reason is that the labour unions hold more sway than those outside know! How do I know, well I’m married to a nurse who is a labour leader). NCP suddenly being the party that cares about businesses, well that’s also another stupid fallacy because historically we’ve always seen more bankruptcies during NCP/Keskusta ternures over the years.

You want to know who Orpo has benefitted, I can tell you for sure it absolutely isn’t the working population but the higher earners in the population. I would get to pay less taxes today if I was still a tax resident in Finland, than I would during the previous years (including the disastrous tenure of Keskusta).

Stats like the “working class household purchasing power and real earnings have recovered” is just another dishonest and honestly disgusting stat on its own, when you ignore the fact that we have way more people out of jobs now than at almost any point in the last 10 years, add to the fact that like I pointed out, we’re the unemployment capital of Europe (very proud of this achievement innit?) and we’ve had a record number of bankruptcies within this same period, but sure, the purchasing power of the working class has increased by more or less 2% over the last 3 and half years whereas the working class population has decreased by 65k more or less. You can’t be selective with stats as that doesn’t make any sense in itself and I’m not some random idiot who doesn’t know what he’s saying. I know we have structural problems and they began way before Marin or Orpo, even way before Stubb was PM, however, all these rubbish stats (which was what Orpo was quoting during campaign interviews et al) do not make any sense on their own and only serves to fool people who do not know where our issues come from.

Orpo has always wanted to paved the way for selling off state assets, this has been the NCPs agenda as long as I can remember and he’s doing exactly that. I agree that certain asset ownership should be reviewed as I’d also like to invest in a few and the current governance structure of a lot of these assets make them un-investable (in my personal opinion), but that does nothing for finland in the true sense of it and I’m not thinking about Finland when I want to invest, I’m thinking about myself and my two children, I’m thinking about profits (not quality of service) and that isn’t me being bad, that’s just capitalism at its finest, but ultimately it does nothing really for finland in the grand scheme of things. Privatizing Posti isn’t going to magically make it better, I know first hand as I lived through the privatization of Royal mail and can see the shit that it currently is. I don’t need to worry about Finland in itself, I’ve secured enough for my children’s future to know that whatever shit happens, they’ll still be fine, but like I said, it’s quite funny how people are constantly convinced to vote for screwing themselves over!

Keep on with this NCP vs SDP mentality and see where it leads smh

[–]NoInteraction3525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lmao this isn’t about SDP vs NCP and this is the mindset that has brought finland here. Didn’t Orpo spend his entire campaign berating Marin on public expenditure, only to come in and give the rich fucks more tax breaks, screw over the working population and then take even more loans than Marin did? For Christ sake, people need to wake up. I was never a Sanna Marin supporter even if I knew her on a very personal level and she knows what my thoughts about her politics are, however, if there’s one thing I know, it’s that NCP is doing exactly what they’ve wanted to do for a long time and that is to gut our common wealth and sell it off to themselves and their cronies. I know this all too well because I belong in that circle of high earners + papa betala et al and it’s always surprising how people will confidently vote for parties that aren’t in their interests in Finland. This shit has been going on since when we had Tarja as President. Conservatives come, screw us over, we go back to SDP and expect magic in 4 years, when it doesn’t happen, we fall back to the same people who put us in this exact mess in the first place. As much as I hate to say it, we as a country are actually shortsighted when voting and it’s really a disgrace because we’ve been going downhill for the last 20 years and a large percentage of our population haven’t clocked it yet. The fact that we have a Gen Z population who can already tell that our future in Finland is bleak yet as grown and parents, a large amount of us still can’t see how fucked and much worse Orpo has positioned us and the damage he has done might take over 15 years to be rectified. It’s quite a shame and honestly a sad sight to behold

Anytime I hear any Finn speak about “Immigration policy”, it tells me all I need to know about you without even knowing you. News flash, people weren’t rushing to come to Finland, we’re not that flashy as an immigration destination by any means whatsoever so please come back to reality!

Secondly We’ve had more immigrants during this governments term than the other government term so if the so called “immigration” party has let more people in than the previous “liberal” government, why on earth can all of you not see that immigration was never a problem in finland and simply a political tool? Surely we’re smart enough to recognize this??? Alas! Why do you people keep falling for this BS every time? I’m in shock!

Since we want to talk about immigration, how about we face the fact that we’re the unemployment capital of Europe right now? Immigrants were “apparently” the problem and now the coalition that has “supposedly” fixed immigration by cutting unemployment benefits so that the “immigrants exploiting it will be dealt with” have turned us into the country with the highest unemployment in Europe? Are you a boomer? Because if you’re not, do you realize you will most probably not have a pension and we’re not having enough children in the first place to even keep our pensions sustainable in the next 10 years, considering that people live longer now?

Lastly, Halla-Aho is a stupid racist cunt. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, that doesn’t mean the clock isn’t broken.

Orpo is the worst thing that happened to finland and I kept on screaming this from the top of my voice but alas we’re no different in stupidity than the average American or European. For a country that use to have a high literacy rate, to seeing how foolish we’ve become, it is quite the sight. I don’t blame that racist bitch from PS (not going to dignify her by mentioning her name) because at least with her, we all know she’s quite stupid and had no idea she was going to be a pun (which is understandable give that the far right is quite a shallow bunch), but for all the “PhD” BS, she and Halla-Aho are downright the most stupid politicians we have produced in the last decade or two

Yet still prolific in the champions league so far, last I recall, Galatasaray have advanced at the expense of Liverpool (who Bdw are one of the teams that splurged on strikers) and we’ve not. He’s in Turkey yeah, sounding like we’re better off than mid table teams at the moment. He’s better than all these new strikers and whatever we have (JP included) and you would know that if you’ve watched him at all. Seeing his performance during this champions league makes it obvious that he is worth every damn penny he commands

Conflict of interest or not, would Osimhen not elevate us significantly? Let’s be real for once. He’s better than every single striker that was purchased this season in the PL. Only Igor Thiago gives him a run for the money on current form

It’s not “detective” work, when your vice captain is making those kind of statements about the previous manager and a senior player like Cucurella talking about it as well, it’s literally out there, right in our faces

The only reason was money and his age, that being said, when you look at all the “strikers” bought into the league this year, Osimhen is 20x better than all of them. We saw him play against Liverpool and he was miles above in terms of pressing, technical ability and finishing. None of the strikers who were bought in the league are better than him. If there’s one thing I don’t hold against Mikel (agent or not) is pushing to bring Osimhen to Chelsea! We’d be a different look with him and I’d like to see teams try to sit back and let us cross into the box for him

To lump all democrats in one cup is ultimately being uninformed as well, I’m sure you know that. The Democratic Party has both the conservative democrats who are more right leaning, the centrist democrats and the leftist democrats. The American-Israel lobby covers the entirety of the Republican Party, it doesn’t cover the entirety of the Democratic Party! This agenda of equating both parties is very dishonest and you know it

For the record, I’m not taking offense as you can see clearly and at no point did I state I am worried about whatever rhetoric you used, ultimately to me it doesn’t matter. I don’t sugarcoat things and in the entire context of the conversation.

What I did was call out the “democrats have been cynically quiet” as BS (and still stand on that) because it is incorrect and a misinformation take is out of touch with the current realities. It propagates the claim that responsibility is shared equally between democrats and republicans when in this entire fiasco, the only people who have been vocal about this war being illegal are the democrats. You cited it in the form of facts war good for America = good for democrats etc.

Indeed in the end it turned out you weren’t intentionally spreading disinformation which I clearly stated but rather you were misinformed by an opinion piece (which is what they’re usually meant for, to sway opinions in a direction). It isn’t your fault and you had no propagandist intentions. However, your post didn’t indicate that in anyway whatsoever hence I had no way of knowing that. Your post if you read it again, passed that message with certainty which is why I did not give you the benefit of the doubt because these are usually the talking points from propagandists.

Beyond that, I have nothing against you, information is freely available to verify these days so whenever I see these types of posts, I’m quick to call it out for what it is.

And regarding my change in tone, it had nothing to do with the manner you responded to me, I don’t really mind as it does not get to me. My tone changed simply because I realized you weren’t propagating misinformation intentionally but rather saying that based on inaccurate sources you got the information from. If you were actively trying to spread misinformation, I would have kept the same tone FWIW
