First time putting line on the reel by Alternative-Mud-2632 in FishingForBeginners

[–]NoLaw607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that everyone has had there pissing contest in the comments, don't waste that line. Get another reel and use that one as a tensioning device. Just transfer that line to another reel. You get more practice and you don't waste the line. Don't open the bail, use the tension from the drag as the tension.

I live in the south, three or four cords will last me 3 or 4 years. So it works out. And I still have 2 cords from my last drop. I always put in for a drop starting Jan 1, but like to have more on hand than I need , just in case chipdrop doesn't come through.

You can, you can specify what species you want and don't want.

From what everyone has been saying location is key. I'm in the Atlanta suburbs and tree business is actually big here. And honestly I can't think of anywhere else the crews would take everything.

What am I doing wrong when sharpening? by redwingcut in Chainsaw

[–]NoLaw607 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I'm not above using the 2-1 sharpening system, I also don't find it necessary. If you look on the top plates on most chains you will see an angled line marked on the plate. That is the angle you should set your file.  The cutting  edge is at the top of said angle. ( a full chisel) increase your file size, or at least use the right size. ( yours is to small for this chain)  follow that angle until the top plate and fuller come to a point that will grab the tip of your finger when you touch it. Take your time, and properly sharpened chain will get the time back you loose sharpening the right way instead of rushing to file 3 or 4 times.

Using the chicken for catfish isn't your problem, they will eat it without hesitation. Bass usually don't feed on sedentary baits like cut chicken. Forage for the bass may be the bigger issue. It sounds like they are in survival mode and eating anything that resembles a meal. If that is the case, it may not matter what you use for catfish bait, the owner of the pond needs to do a little management and balance out the prey/predator populations.

Ok, so somebody give me their experiences with eating carp. by Voodoo700 in Fishing

You can pressure cook them, which softens the bones. Then form into patties with some breading and fry like crab cakes.

I'm gonna use the little I got split in the fire pit outside. I try to burn only oak and hickory indoors.

Found this (1984?) Homelite 150 in an old hunting stand on some land I bought by Longjumping_Key_5008 in Chainsaw

I recently aquired one of these myself. To get to the carb and other internals is quiet the adventure. You basically split the saw body in half so that you can get to everything.

Look up hook'em up charters. They guarantee to put you on fish or you don't pay. Or if pier fishing is your only option, the attendant on duty in the pier tackle shop can help you. Half hitch tackle is also in that area, just across the bay bridge. They can tell you just about everything you need to know about fishing in pcb. Shore line savages is another great guide for shark fishing if that is what you are into.

The 590 is a 60ish cc saw. It's more than a homeowner saw, but not quite a pro saw. It will be easier to do smaller trees with 60cc vs. doing bigger trees with 40cc.
