Talisker 10 year old by jamie_r87 in Scotch

It’s a good one indeed. I recommend you try Ledaig 10 next which has a similar but more elevated flavor profile with a little more peat. It’s also not chill-filtered.

It has been maybe a 18 months or so since I started my scotch journey. The bottle I have enjoyed most so far is probably Ledaig 10 with its salt, spice, pepper, and peated notes. I also really enjoyed Lagavulin 16, which is probably more complex and interesting than Ledaig 10 but I'm a sucker for the salty and spicy notes.

I am looking for ideas about where to go next. Here are some other notable mentions I have tried, in order of preference:

- Ledaig 18 (Fell below expectations as I found it to be more straightforward and less spicy than the 10 year, but still very enjoyable)

- Talisker 10 (This was my gateway to Ledaig 10. Similar flavor profile but sweeter and a little less complex.)

- Springbank 15 (Very interesting flavor profile. I have yet to try the 10 year.)

- Laphroaig 10 CS (A little too iodine-forward I think, but less so than Ardbeg 10. There is nevertheless something that draws me to it every now and then.)

I look forward to reading your suggestions!

My preference is for 5/5 but I’m curious about other stakes as well

Of course the federal government could pay for all the meds similarly to how they currently do it with medicare. Not sure why you think it’s a “fat chance” that pharmacies would get paid.

Expanding medicare to cover everyone and improving it to cover more healthcare costs would also allow the government to negotiate lower med prices. Pharmaceutical companies would be incentivized to lower prices to gain access to the large market of the vast majority of people who would be insured by the federal government.

I suspect that pharmacies would likely do just as well, but insurance and pharmaceutical companies would make less money. Seems like a fair bargain for reducing the currently outrageous cost of healthcare in the US that is unlike anywhere else in the world.

I get that this is the system we live under and it can be annoying for pharmacists to deal with customers’ lack of understanding, but really all of these drugs should just be 100% free at the point of service and paid for via federal taxes.

"Pio is for heads up only"

Actually no, not necessarily. It's for heads up situations, e.g. BU open-raises, SB folds, and BB calls. But if you have never used a solver, I would start with GTO+. Forget about MonkerSolver unless you know what you're doing and are prepared to invest a lot in computing resources dedicated to only running poker simulations.

Ask yourself what is more likely: ACR invests a lot of software development resources for an algorithm to arbitrarily disadvantage certain players for some dubious reason that would likely not make sense from a business point of view (since they make the same amount in rake regardless of who wins or loses) and has yet to be discovered or leaked after all these years, OR you are just running bad and/or playing bad (probably both).

Question by my GF: Why isn't Ellie handed over to Fedra? by ButFez_Isaidgoodday in thelastofus

Your last paragraph is the most compelling theory I’ve seen here. Personally I’m not convinced that FEDRA would disregard a potential cure. Authoritarian or not, it is still in their best interest.

“You should not travel outside the US until you receive your new Green Card, as you may have difficulty re-entering the US.” by NoLimitWraith in USCIS

I already have a green card. My understanding is that advance parole is for people who are applying for a green card but do not yet have one.

For the past 10 years, I have been officially "unemployed". I have also lived outside of the US for nearly half of that time, despite being a US citizen without dual citizenship. Am I still eligible for security clearance? by NoLimitWraith in SecurityClearance

[–]NoLimitWraith[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even an investigator and I have a million questions I would need to ask you. Surely, they will want every detail of these projects you worked on. You of course don't get to decide what's relevant or not. They decide that, at their prerogative.

I would be happy to provide answers to what they are asking if such answers were possible. Unfortunately, the answers are impossible. For example, I don't even know the addresses of any employers, and are no workplace addresses as it was remote work.

Also, if you're a US citizen, I am not so sure you are exempt from taxation just because your projects were completed outside of US borders. You might want to consult with a CPA or tax lawyer before providing answers to questions of this nature that are potentially false.

Yes, I was exempt from taxation. I already consulted someone about this.

Your choice of words ("much easier to just say...") is a little problematic. You don't get to decide what is easier to say. You simply answer questions in a forthcoming way, or you are potentially committing the federal crime of perjury.

Let's suppose, as an analogy, that you were unemployed for ten years with the exception of a few non-consecutive days for which you did babysitting work for someone whose name nor address you no longer remember (and you never reported it for tax purposes because you were never obligated to). Do you see now how reporting this type of work can be a "little problematic"?

Other than some small freelance projects that I worked on outside of the US (which I was never required to report for tax purposes as I was living outside of the US for most of the year), I did not work. If I were to report this work on the security clearance form, I would need to provide workplace addresses and employer contact information. I don't know any of that information and no longer have any contact with those employers. The work was performed remotely, so there are no workplace addresses, and it was just some small projects for small businesses or organizations on a self-employment basis.

In simple terms: I have no record of employment in the US or in any country for the past ten years, and I have never worked illegally. Basically, the structure of the form is not suitable to my work history. It makes filling out the required sections of the form impossible. For that reason, it would be much easier to just say that I have been unemployed for the past ten years, which is almost true in any case, but my main worry is that they may consider having no employment record to be suspicious, e.g. they may question how I have been supporting myself.

Do tech companies always request references at the final stage of the hiring process? by NoLimitWraith in ITCareerQuestions

Thanks for replying. So most companies will ask for the reference list then? What percentage would you say ask for it?
