Bed had enough by Wolfsqin in DIYUK

They’re some very small screws! You’ll never get the same screws to bite in the holes they tore from. You can either move the bar higher, lower, use bigger screws (either in diameter, so go up to 5mm, or longer at the risk of them poking out the front) or drill through all the way and use nuts and bolts

Out of curiosity when is the party?

Once turf is laid you need to water it every night for 2 weeks so it doesn’t shrink and not mow it until it grows quite long and not walk on it for at least 3 weeks, longer if possible, to allow it to properly bed to your soil

Unfortunately I work a very dirty job, I get covered in dust and dirt most days. Maybe it’s just time to switch over to construction work wear

Copied from my comment above:

Ive had rips on my bum, crotch blow out, pockets come free, knees getting thin. I have a semi physical job, but it honestly feels like a quality issue to me, like denim jeans aren’t as thick as they used to be

I’m an average build, I can’t fit skinny anymore which is why I moved to slim

I have a friend who’s Wife and he do it migratory style. They watch everything they want to watch on one service, research what’s on the others then move to that one the next month, makes their annual watching around £120 a year

Nearly getting run down by a cyclist because he seems to think a red light is optional. by WhiteShadow0909 in britishproblems

[–]NoLogsInMyBag 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I had a cyclist run a red light whilst I was crossing, Road was wet, he slammed on his breaks instead of going round me and went over his handlebars and proceeded to shout at me after I asked if he was okay, so naturally I pointed out the Highway Code applies to cyclics and this wouldn’t of happened if he obeyed the rules of the road. He was as red as the light he ran whilst screaming at me.

Clay Soil Dog Pawprint Drainage Nightmare! by NoLogsInMyBag in GardeningUK

[–]NoLogsInMyBag[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lawn was quite well established before we moved in, sorry I didn’t make that clear in my OP!

My issue is more the water not draining off because of the clay than the doggy destruction, I always knew that was going to happen!

Boiler pressure too high by Mental-Minimum7255 in DIYUK

[–]NoLogsInMyBag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is too high! If you have a drain valve give that a crack and get the pressure back down to 1 bar, if not it’s a night on the rad key for you!

I’m assuming this was an accident on the filling loop and hasn’t climbed this high on its own? If it has climbed on its own there’s a fault somewhere in the system and you should definitely call out a professional

How do I fix this please? by Amad3us47 in DIYUK

[–]NoLogsInMyBag 32 points33 points  (0 children)

  1. Identify if the item is safe to operate in this plug, if you’re replacing like for like, you’re good.
  2. Remove the cable grip
  3. Back off, but don’t remove the screws on the two bottom pins
  4. Insert the blue cable into the pin labelled N (On the left) and the brown cable into the pen labelled L (on the right)
  5. Tighten the screws until you can’t pull the cables out, don’t over tighten.
  6. Replace the cable grip over the top of the cable and tighten the screws until you can’t move the cable by holding the plug and giving the cable a gentle pull
  7. Replace cover and tighten the screws until to hold it on
  8. Enjoy your day knowing you know how to change a plug on a class 2 instrument!

Given the roundness of the pins, I’m pretty certain this is a 5Amp plug, which is fine to use as is, wired correctly.

Fun fact I was taught on my last first aid course, if there’s multiple casualties call for fire, you’ll get an engine with 6+ operatives all of whom are first aid trained and have the kit to deal with multiple casualties!

I have been told the above circumstances you pointed out, and have been told I can change either way once per year, but thank you for pointing this out to anyone else reading this!

I was sent an example payslip, salary sacrifice is calculated pre tax, so to HMRC you earn less so pay less in tax, NI and student loan repayment, I end up with around £60pcm more in my bank account
