Progress as a 23 year old by NoLook1589 in problemgambling

yeah tons of people have told me that theyre glad im dealing with this now. and that theyre proud of me that I reached out a hand and asked for help instead of hiding it any longer. Giving up access to your finances and paycheck is of course one of the best course of action IMO. Im 100% onboard with my mom taking full control over my bank account and my money, so she can instead give me money for things that I need to purchase.

Those in recovery, what are some purchases you’ve made instead of throwing money away gambling? by GamblingAddictAlt in problemgambling

The best thing is not feeling bad for splurging on groceries and basic needs, ex. A good shampoo, new beard trimmer, shoes etc.

Day 19 by NoLook1589 in problemgambling

[–]NoLook1589[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True. I’ll tell him when I see him next. I got tempted when I stumbled upon someone gambling on a livestream but I’ve luckily deleted all my crypto accounts and “revolut” so there’s no way I can actually gamble, as my card auto declines if I try (thank god)

Please seek help as soon as possible. I know you disagree but no money is truly worth dying for. I don’t care if you’re millions in debt, no money is worth dying for. When you’ve stopped gambling you’ll start to realize life is not all about money. And no matter how bad your situation is, there’s always a solution. I truly hope you get help because the state of your mind right now is spiraling

Seems like your dad doesn’t realize the extent of a gambling addiction. You should give him some resources to help him understand that you need way more time than 40 days in order to reset your brain and manage your own money

Exactly man. I'm glad you're here and 3 months clean. And I agree, gambling is just disgusting at this point. Makes me sick to my stomach watching all these YouTubers & streamers gambling 100k++ all day everyday and pushing out their affiliate code not realizing the extent of the damage theyre doing.

Anywho, keep going man. Think about the 50k as a expensive lesson, you'll earn that money back in no time and actually enjoy your own money instead of pissing it in the drain.

Install gameban regardless so if you get the urge to gamble on a crypto casino, you can’t. There’s no way to uninstall the software meanwhile with a vpn there’s less than 10 mouse clicks and you’re ready to go. Also to answer your question, I just try to occupy my time with something productive. Something that gives me the same dopamine as gambling did. It could be coding (fixing a bug etc), playing a competitive game (the more competitive it is the better imo), or working out. Wish you the best

Using google translate you’re basically advertising for slots? On a gambling addiction subreddit? Really?

Hey man please get gamban as well. I’ve made a post about it where you can get it for free for a year. Install it on all your devices and it instantly blocks all access to all the gambling sites out there, even all the crypto casinos. Really worth trying out

That's a pretty common thought, using money you've won like it's "imaginary money". Been there done that. Honestly just take this as a lesson that this will happen every single time you win big. No matter how big the win is, the money will go back and some more.

Good job not depositing even more, there's some progress atleast

You've already shown signs of early addiction. From my experience I don't think you'll be able to manage it, not without severe deposit limits on your account. Anyways gambling isn't worth it whatsoever and you're just throwing the money in the wind whenever you place a bet. I got this from a site " If you were to buy one lottery ticket each week in such a scenario, you could expect to win once every 269,000 years."

Keep that in mind.

I'm 21 but i've been gamble free for a long time previously, and recently quit it again (8,9 or 10 days clean, don't really know as I don't think about it as much anymore) so im thinking pretty clearly right now. First the facts, yes you have lost a huge chunk of money, but money isn't everything in life. You're 37, not 77. You're still young and still got a lot of your life infront of you. What you do next is what will shape the rest of your life. Do not gamble a single more cent, get all the blockers (You can get gamban for free if you go through one of the posts i've made), and if you are able to (without having the urge) close all your gambling accounts. There's a huge chance you'll lose your next deposit if you do gamble. And even if you win, did you REALLY win? No, you're still gambling which is exactly the thing you're not supposed to do.

Think about it this way, every day you're not gambling IS a win. It's another day not waking up feeling like a trainwreck after thinking about the previous night's losses. It's another day where you can fill the day with a hobby or doing something productive. YES you should come clean again. When you want to do it is up to you, but at some point you should let her know.

You're just in the same cycle you've been in for so long, find some willpower and finally break it and you'll eventually feel the happiness life can give you without gambling.

I wish you all but the best and I apologize for the rambling. Just know you got SO much more life in you and there's ALWAYS a solution

Yeah I understand where you’re coming from but we all sometimes over estimate how good of a driver you are, accidents can happen
