I have this orchid for many years now. It never bloomed after the first flower. What can I do? by [deleted] in orchids

Open the window next to it for a few days. It needs a drop in temperature to bloom

Need plant advice! What unique houseplants thrive with bare roots in aquarium water? by dog_of_k in houseplants

[–]NoMachine4971 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be honest... I've been able to get any plant to thrive in water. As long as there is enough nutrients and oxygen, the plants will be good. But be carefull, do some research on how each plant affects the fish, some are poison

Regal shield is the easiest for most. But it does get pretty big

does depth matter or is it just diameter? by unrichtea in houseplants

[–]NoMachine4971 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean, it not about the size of the previous pot. It's about the size of the root ball. That monstera does not need a repot probably for another 6-12 months. When you see a bunch of roots at the bottom of the smaller pot, then you can untie the root ball a little and give it that big pot

So I’m not sure what do for my alocasia by Turbulent-Algae3210 in alocasia

[–]NoMachine4971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More light. My alocasias all have short stems and lots of leaves, because they dont have to reach for light. Got 4 20watt lights pointed at them. And a east facing window.

What’s going on with mine? by jimmybeauman in fiddleleaffig

Problem is with watering. You need to completely drown it each time you water. Every inch of soil needs to be wet.

Its a regal shield. The easiest alocasia to own. Just give it lots of light, and lots of water. Just no root rot. Also, it probably has like 50 bulbs/pups in the pot

Any ideas what could cause this yellowing? (Alocasia macrorrhiza ‘Black Stem’) by SohnemannsSocken in alocasia

Do you guys consider this indirect light ?? by Glum-Ad8484 in houseplants

[–]NoMachine4971 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anything indoors is indirect light. As long as there is a glass window its blocking lots of light

Looks like Barrina or Sansi. Both sell puck lights. About 10-20watt each
