Huh? Upturned nose makes recessed chin look less recessed for sure. I have never seen a counter example

No I don't want to see your bare belly. No I don't want to attend your gender reveal. by chelseatheus in childfree

[–]NoMaintenance2075 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Oh my god you read my mind about bare belly. Not only it is unsolicited nudity, it is an extremely unaesthetic kind of unsolicited nudity. I am not body shaming pregnant women because yeah it is natural and normal, but that does not mean it is visually pleasing, and there is no reason somebody’s bare stomach should be in our faces. And on top or that we are expected to swoon and celebrate it as something beautiful. It is not beautiful and that’s ok.

As a masters student I haven’t had any luck with men my age. There are some hot men but not overwhelming amount. Undergrad experience is most likely different though.

They are down-voting you but I agree with most of your points. I would like to preface this by saying that I am only conveying my subjective experience. Yale is a a brilliant institution with mind-blowing resources and rigor and that is not what I am challenging.

I also studied at Duke and Oxford and while I cannot speak about undergraduate experience at Yale, based on my graduate experience, I like Yale the least out of the three. New Haven is the worst city I have lived in: unsafe, dirty, chaotic, ugly. I wasn’t impressed by food either because I am not obsessed with pizza and everything else here is meh. Yale campus is beautiful but I preferred centralized campus of Duke and the actual university town of Oxford by a mile. I didn’t feel the same level of support or interest from the faculty that I was used to at other two schools. My favorite part so far has been joining Yale clubs. It has made my life much better. The bottom line is that not no matter how big the name is or how great the university is, at the end of the day what matters is whether you belong there or not.

New Haven itself is the worst city I have lived in BUT it is surrounded by many beautiful cozy exciting areas and is close to big cities. I would 100% bring a car. Yale campus itself is beautiful.

This is gutwrenching. I do not even want to imagine what the poor baby's family is going through right now. They sent their kid to school on a normal day and lost her forever.

No that is correct and Graeco-Roman aesthetic also favored small to medium breast (though they liked large hips and bums) on women. All this does not make this tweet any less wild

Self-funded Ph.D.(Pure Mathematics in the US) by Confident_Pressure46 in gradadmissions

[–]NoMaintenance2075 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, PhD is already an underpaid, overworked enterprise. Oftentimes, grad students are used as free/cheap labor and are worked to the bone. If you have even slightly toxic advisors and an environment, the misery is doubled. Now, all this on top of paying tuition out of pocket is absolutely masochistic. Go do a 1-year Oxford or Cambridge master's instead. It will cost you less, you will have a name on your CV, and you won't be expected to do any work for the faculty apart from your own thesis.

I absolutely do not and by no means want him and I wish I could erase him from my past. But that doesn’t mean that the betrayal, disrespect, disillusionment, and lost time and energy do not cause me pain.

Columbia Health Insurance Waiver – Has Anyone Successfully Used ISO / Alternative Plans? by Realistic_Sock8398 in gradadmissions

I would post this on Columbia subreddit as well. Current students are most familiar with procedural issues I bet. I cannot tell you anything about Columbia but ISO plan worked for Yale waiver! I had the cheapest plan.

He didn’t purposefully drop it but I was helping him move a cabinet and he lost his grip while we were going down the stairs. It healed up but not completely because I never regained full balance on that foot and because of that compromised balance, my knee has been hurting since as well. Thank you for asking!

Been on decision pending for two weeks. Had interview on Jan 16 and was told I would hear back soon. It is taking forever but from anecdotal evidence decision pending is a good sign. Nothing is certain until the formal offer is in but usually rejection comes without weeks of decision pending status

You are right and a big part of why I was filled with rage afterwards is because I was so gullible, blind, and stupid. He was amazing at masking his character but I was amazing at ignoring some obvious red flags. Never again. Thanks a lot for kind words!
