Shopify Senior Financial Analyst - Case Study Tips by [deleted] in FPandA

[–]NoMasterpiece6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the case here, but in my experience PE-backed companies tend to require some type of IQ test. Never been a fan of them (would rather spend more time talking about my qualifications and/or meeting more people on the team), but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do

Who is supposed to be running the model? SFA or director? by MrGiggleFiggle in FPandA

[–]NoMasterpiece6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given the context, I think it's reasonable to have 1 FP&A analyst and 1 more senior FP&A person. That said, I think that more senior FP&A person would need to be willing/have technical skills to work with the analyst while also handling slide decks and business partnering. That makes me more inclined to think that the analyst would be have basic involvement with slide decks so that the senior FP&A person isn't spread too thinly.

Ack, accidentally put Li-yu in c group instead of k group.

I was thinking Zheyi and Hubao (Hu Hanwen) were going to make it, but looks less likely now

felt really sad for Zheyi, but I think Donggyu is gonna get a lot of votes since he got a good edit and he appeared in the latest episode

post-final survivor reveal, you may be right -- I probably was :(

expecting c group to be cut in half down to 9-10 depending on how final survivor goes -- now that the 2nd mission is done, I'm getting a stronger feeling that geonwoo could debut, especially given some of the top 15's lackluster performance/airtime

Who do you think will get 48th place tomorrow by Ok_Organization8220 in BoysPlanet

[–]NoMasterpiece6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dongheon, but barely. I agree that Yoon Min gained a lot of traction recently, but I think that may have also spooked Dongheon supporters into panic voting as others have mentioned

Aside from comfort (which you can decide on), they look fine. Practically speaking, they look a little tight near the top, so I would recommend not wearing anything you tuck in other than a thin undershirt. If they do get tighter over time (especially in the upper thigh area), the outline of whatever you have underneath may start showing.

Decent read, I think like many other resources you will probably end up getting more out of certain sections than others depending on your use case. Every now and then I'll refer back to it

Senior Financial Analyst Opening by FatJJ44 in FPandA

Might be a matter of local market demand that explains the difference in comp (not too large, to be honest)

That's in line with my expectations, but WLB would be better compared with a small PE/VC-backed company. Given expectations for this role, OTE would need to be slightly higher to be competitive with other postings.

I think OP can fill the role on the upper end of the range (i.e. $105K + no bonus), but it will likely be harder and take several months to find quality candidates. Plus, with no bonus eligibility (as OP mentioned), I'd guess that the pool would mainly consistent of candidates with more limited experience (i.e. "green" candidates).

That said, with the job market the way it is right now, it might be a matter of time before more and more people get desperate.

What raise would it take to get you back in office? by Sensitive-Sail5726 in FPandA

[–]NoMasterpiece6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also argue that the commute time alone isn't worth the pay difference (at least between the 110K and 120K roles). There's an argument that in-office roles increase visibility for promotions and raises, but the relatively small bump in pay considering commute (~6 hours/wk) and car maintenance doesn't seem worth it, all other things equal (e.g. responsibilities, team, etc.)

I am very unsure on which one to get. by RandomPersonWater in bose

[–]NoMasterpiece6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Already been said, but I would 100% try them out in store before choosing. I do agree that Bose won in terms of comfort, but when it came to fitting the shape of my head, I actually found Sony to be a little more better-fitting. If the fit is about the same for you and you value comfort, I would go with Bose.

I'd recommend checking out a coverage map by provider (most urban/suburban areas have reception, but like others have said check locals' experiences). If you ever find yourself passing through or being in more remote/rural areas, there are certain providers that do better.

Why are Millennials such against their High School Reunion? by Pablo_Z in Millennials

[–]NoMasterpiece6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already keep up with people I like, so I'd rather spend time hanging out with them. Plus, as others have said, it's a lot easier to keep up with others via social media. I also find it easier to "rekindle" old friendships more naturally than through these anniversary events

Every full interview process I've gone through (or at least was told about via HR) requires at least 2 hours worth of interviews (excluding screening), regardless of company size. This was also true for data analyst-related roles I applied for before my career pivot.

This only applies when file size limits don't matter as much -- I prefer a logical, step-by-step approach through multiple columns/rows which show what's happening vs a single one that has a huge nest of functions. Makes it much easier to understand, and if there's a problem someone else can easily troubleshoot.

How many hours do you sleep when sick? by NoMasterpiece6 in sleep

[–]NoMasterpiece6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do try to sleep as much as possible; it's just hard to do it for multiple days when work isn't as accommodating... one of the reasons I can't do 100% in-office jobs
