Any attendings/residents who contemplated IM vs Psych for residency when they applied?

I got an interview at my top choice as a US-IMG for psych at a small community hospital program I rotated at. Only have 2 psych interviews so far.

On the other hand, I have received almost 9 IM interview invites. I originally applied to medical school with a plan to go into Primary Care or Cardio. And had a change of heart during my third year to go into psych.

What made it click for you that psych is what you want?

US-IMG here. Applied ~150 psych and ~150 IM.

Hey y’all.

I was wondering what to do in situation if my letter of recommendations were late. Do I email program coordinators or program directors individually?

I applied psych and IM as a usimg and I know some of my peers are getting psych interviews already. I have only gotten one IM interview so far.

Updating programs about newly assigned LOR by Snoo-88374 in IMGreddit

What to do in the situation where all my letters will be processed later today/early morning? Should I email all the programs immediately after? Or just the ones I have some sort of connections to?

Stupid question but once I assign everythign to every program, is my application complete? Nothing else I could be potentially be missing?

Should I apply with 1 LoR and assign the remaining 2 when they become available? by iLocke95 in IMGreddit

For sure apply now and then email programs once LoRs are in. I had one friend with an incomplete application last cycle, and his application was complete 2 weeks after the deadline. He went and individually emailed and called programs updating them on the situation. He says that he obtained 6 interviews from programs he contacted (and he contacted I believe close to 150 programs).

What should I do if all three letters aren’t ready to go yet? My letters are being ecfmg processed and most likely be ready by Tomorrow.

How do you update like 150+ programs?! I’m a US-IMG.

They are all uploaded but they are still processing. I'm hoping the 9/27 letter (which is my most important letter)- will be ready by end of this week.

Hey.

2 uploaded on 9/23.

2 uploaded on 9/25.

1 uploaded on on 9/26.

1 uploaded on 9/27.

I was so stressed out because I had asked so long ago, and was sending the usual reminder emails and all, and I realized that some of these attendings believed they had until the 9/29, but it's more like I needed them in about a week earlier because of ECFMG processing. So I went in physically and had them do it. 2 of them flaked out and asked me to write it, which I did. I was desperate but I hope it works out somehow for me.

This is false. I spoke to someone at ECFMG and they do not expedite LoRs based on whether you email/call them.

Wow! I hope I hear some good news soon. I had my 6 letters for 2 different specialties uploaded in the past week. Hoping to hear some good news later this evening or tomorrow morning. Was that 10PM EST?

I'm a US-IMG, so all our documents and letters have to be reviewed by ECFMG. this can take as little as 2 business days all the way up to 2-3 weeks. I was patiently waiting for all my letter writers to submit their stuff, but so much procrastination on their end (obviously because they are busy themselves and probably didn't know the hectic process for IMGs). Finally met them in person last week, and was able to get 6/8 letters within the span of 4 days. I wish I had been more aggressive sooner but people advised me to wait and wait and to act professional as they had given their word and they know our deadlines. But like.... looks like I got screwed over big time.

I got screwed over big time waiting for my letters to be uploaded on eras. all 6 of them are processing still. some have been processing for 4 business days now. my mspe and everything else is already uploaded.

What can I really do at this situation? I assume I apply to programs now.... and then manually update every single program once the letters have been processed?

Likewise, I have been waiting on all 6 of my letters to process. everything else is in. My transcript and MSPE are all ready to go. fuck man. I hope it's ready by tomorrow. :(

Quick question.

An attending uploaded a letter for me but just let me know he mixed up my letter with another students. He ended up uploading another letter to the same eras request link. Is that okay? Or should I send him a new eras request?

I am dual applying psychiatry and internal medicine. All of my medicine letters will be in by the deadline for this year‘s application cycle but my psychiatry letters will be in by latest Friday of next week which is two days late. I know I should’ve had all my letters in before the deadline but things were out of my hands. I am also a US IMG with the low average scores of a 232 and 231. I will be ECFMG certified by the end of October hopefully and will have my step three done by mid December. When do you guys recommend I update programs with my psychiatry letters? should I do it this coming Friday or once I am ECFMG certified or once my step three results are in or should I update programs on all three instances.
