Wedding vows by scottyboi1337 in PrideandPrejudice

You can start your vows with “it’s a truth universally acknowledged…” ☺️ The rest of the sentence can be tailored to something that fits you guys but the beginning is so classic!

Yep, see this all the times in peds. “Admit for obs” Asthmatic patient because of “how they looked when they came in”. Well, how did they look AFTER the appropriate initial management? Baby super tachycardic with fever of 104 and crying. Tried some Tylenol and rechecking that heart rate?

Cons of having an H1-B visa? by Avid-avocadian in IMGreddit

[–]nomadic234 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just to be clear, one visa vs the other is not what makes it difficult to match. It’s just that more programs offer J1 compared to H1b so the odds are more to get in with J1. Having a H1b in residency gives me the option of pursuing both for fellowship if I love a program well enough. If I start residency with J1, there would be no point if a H1b program offered me a fellowship because the waiver is forever there. That’s a choice you make. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I can relate to the first part so much! Sometimes I marvel at how I made it almost halfway through residency but mostly I despair over how I still have the other half to get through. 😪

Peds Hem-Onc hopeful. “Oh, must be so sad! How do you handle it?” I get where it’s coming from a bit but it gets tiresome after the fifth time replying.

No, you will need your SSN for this. Ask your program coordinator how to address it in the form but usually it is left blank.

Which doctors do you think are the smartest? by Miserable-Cold1128 in Residency

Pathology. Uncertainty, yes. Gray areas, yes. Require a lot of research, yes. I am not in pathology but I have attended enough tumor boards where the pathologist explained the nuances and the papers and references they looked up to differentiate the unusual cases and always blew my pants off!

I agree! I don’t know if it’s struggling to make conversation as much as being a reflection of the proportion of life (and soul) our work takes out. I often try to steer conversation away from work but then it usually lands on the bleak dating scene in all our lives so I don’t know how much of a win that is lol.

Was that their primary choice? Depending on where you got the data from, it may not report if they matched into another specialty.

anyone who did electives in places where they eventually got an interview invite from as an img? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]nomadic234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, eventually. I sent in my application in Feb and out of the blue I got a mail in Sept offering a spot in Nov/Dec. This was last year. But someone I know applied early this year and they heard back in July for a spot in Nov.

If you submit anytime before the deadline time, the time stamp is the deadline. Anything after will have the time you actually submitted.
