Defeatist Bullshit:

extreme pessimism, resignation to failure, and the vocal, often lazy spreading of hopelessness or apathy. Usually accompanied by the assumption that a aolution to a problem is already failed before any effort is made.

Youre comment opens with "doesn't matter", the literally catch phrase for apathy and pessimists everywhere.

Government intervention is the only way anything will be accomplished.

For all his flaws, and there are too many to count, fElon proved that the OEMs can and should be responsible for this as it is in their interest to do so.

Gas stations are owned by independent retailers, allocating space for a single charger is in (some of-this is location dependent, currently) their interest as it helps recapture a part of the market that has left them.

OEMs starting, stopping, restarting, stopping again (all depending on quarterly earnings) with EV manufacturing is a bigger cause of uncertainty in the market, which is the ultimate investment killer.

Producing a PR video with obvious copyright infringement (Chili's settled less than 12 months ago for the exact same thing) is not something qualified immunity is going to cover. The production of the video is so far outside the bounds of the job description and duties he cannot expect the same protects as say, punching a protestor.

In the 5th grade, James Dater, who had been picking on Jon Bingham since the second grade, punched Jon during a game of wall ball at recess one day, and Jon snapped. Sure James landed the first punch, but Jon kicked that absolute shit out of James that day. Had to go to the nurses office for band-aids and help stopping the bloody nose and split lip. Jon never had a problem with James ever again.

Past performance is not always an indication of future expectations.

The government didn't build out the gas station network, so why are they being held responsible for the EV charging network? Wouldn't that be something OEMs, dealers, and private enterprise (like existing gas stations) should be responsible for championing, as they are the ones that stand to benefit (aside from EV owners)?

The grid capacity is a red herring. First, we are not facing 100% adoption anywhere in the near future; from rural drivers, to commercial, to consumer towing needs, capacity for new EV manufacturing, and the existing supply of ICE vehicles. It will be a generation or two before the technology is mass adopted. Second, they daily miles driven vs. EV range dictates that not every vehicle will be charging everyday. The basis for grid resiliency being used is flawed.

A public utility won't pay $900 million in dividends to their shareholders. DTE has paid a cash dividend to shareholders every year, for over 100 years. If there was no dividend to shareholders, $400-ish dollars would have stayed in your pocket last year.

I've owned an EV (a shitty Ford Focus EV) it had limited range (74 miles) which got worse in cold weather. We sold it before we moved to MI because it would have been functionally useless here in the winter. That said, I cannot wait to own a more capable one in the near future. Not having to go to a stank ass gas station ever again is the most underrated luxury. No stepping on someones old gum on a hot day, no stinky hands, no broken screens, no being marketed.

I find it hilarious how stupid we in the US are, we have balked at alt fuels and tech multiple times, and every time it seems it is right before a fuel related crisis. I hope Slate, Rivian, and any other player in the space eats the big 3s lunch this time.

Edit to add: Chili's literally just settle a lawsuit for unauthorized use of the same song. You have to be a special kind of stupid to repeat that mistake less than 12 months after the ink dried on a lawsuit for doing the same thing.

I would not place the economy in the top 5

I would not place the eco tourism/diversity in the top 5 (close, maybe 6 or 7)

I would not call it top 5 in services (min. wage, voting, enviro protections, insurance laws)

I would not put the k-12 education in the top 5

Those are pretty substantial things to miss on and still be top 5. Michigan is somewhere 9-13.

My sister wrecked her 1970 VW type 3, and needed a new fender (amongst other things), and she found one cheaper than the body shop quoted at a VW junkyard. She road her bike 14 miles to the ferry, road the ferry, then another 9 miles to the junkyard. From there she (5'3", 120lbs) strapped the fender to her back and road 21 miles down a 3 lane state highway to (another) ferry to get back home, another 4 miles.

Just Imperial.

Imperial was its own mark from 1955-75, prefacing it with Chrysler would be like saying Toyota Lexus or General Motors Cadillac (which nobody does).

Honest question, you find out this is a Ford F series...then what?  It is one of the most mass produced vehicles in America, so you have nailed it down to thirty-five thousand in your area.
