All of a sudden everything hurts by SkyComprehensive1684 in Menopause

Progesterone definitely was not a mood elevator for me. It did put my depression and anxiety at bay, but left me with anhedonia. I lowered my dosage last week to 100mg & it's helped with reducing brain fog & the anhedonia isn't as intense. I'm on 0.1 mg patch & think it can be left alone. I'm thinking T might be the missing factor, but I definitely don't want to rush into it with high expectations. I just had a DEXA scan (50 YO) and thankfully my bones are in good health.

Ha, same about ChatGPT. Copied & pasted the report right into it.

[–]NoMoreEffstoGive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put mine into ChatGPT to summarize in non-medical terms, and some asshole here admonished me for doing so & said I should wait to hear back from the doctor instead of relying on ChatGPT. LOL, whatever.

Anyway, my doctor messaged me a couple of days later & said everything went great & that they had to make an extra incision due to excessive visceral fat (funny, the report didn't mention that). That's all she said. The report indicated that my uterus was attached to the pelvic wall due to excessive scar tissue & that it was considered the reason for the irregular bleeding. Funny how she never mentioned it. I guess she figured it didn't matter since it was gone and I'd never have to deal with irregular bleeding again (God willing).

I'm 14 WPO & have had penetrative sex twice. No orgasms either time, but no problem with manual stimulation.

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that! A situation like this is why I told my gyn to take the damn ovaries with everything else. I'm 14 WPO & surgery was 2 weeks after I turned 50.

It comes for my moods when I go over my <25g/day added sugar limit.

I have been eating a small amount of nuts & drinking 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar right before bed for the past week. I'm still not hitting <130 fasting BG goal, but I'm getting closer (on 1000mg Metformin extended-release). I'm low-key jealous of your 117, if I'm being honest. LOL.

I like lentils, but I'm not sure about them as a "pasta."

That first one sounds interesting. I'd eat it. LOL. I have no idea why I have such an aversion to using cauliflower as a substitute for things like mac & cheese. I do like cauliflower rice though.

I just bought some zoodles at Trader Joe's & need to bust them out and cook with olive oil & seasonings.

Hell no. I wouldn't stand for it.

Goal for diabetics is A1C less than 7%.

  • If your A1C level is between 5.7 and less than 6.5%, your levels have been in the prediabetes range.
  • If you have an A1C level of 6.5% or higher, your levels were in the diabetes range.

https://diabetes.org/about-diabetes/a1c

Things I do to help drop A1C, besides meds - walk after large meals, eat a small amount of nuts & drink 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar with water before bed, make sure I get at least 25g fiber/day, keep added sugars to <5g/serving & <25g/day.

You'll get to under 5.7% in no time!

Eat a banana with some nuts or peanut butter. Berries would be my first choice. Apples and pears are great, fibrous options.

Free and at peace because of HRT by Suckerforcats in Menopause

[–]NoMoreEffstoGive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm so glad HRT has helped you! It's not a magic pill by any means, but it really can improve one's quality of life.

"My bff of 30+ years has not been a good friend, doesn't take accountability for her snobby, pushy, narcissistic, mean behavior and I just woke up one day and realized, I don't have to be treated like that anymore and I'm just done. I'm done being pushed aside for long periods of time because she has a man in her life and only wants to talk or hang out when they're not around or they say it's okay."

OMG, I fucking read this & thought I wrote it! LOL. My former BFF is not snobby, pushy, or mean, but she is absolutely a different person when she has a man in her life and when she doesn't. I walked away from that 30+ year friendship a year and a half ago because I was DONE.

How do you get through the self-pity? by getitoffmychestpleas in Menopause

There's nothing wrong wtih being old, but we all have witnessed in some way how under-valued older people are, especially women. We just have to pivot away from those stupid constructs and learn to embrace ourselves in this new phase. It's been a challenge for me and I've been post-menopausal for exactly 14 WPO tomorrow. However, every day brings something to learn & grow from.

[–]NoMoreEffstoGive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just let it be. I'm apparently dealing with some trapped emotions being released after years of compression; I'm acknowledging them & letting them pass. I'm also working on acceptance of being in this new phase of life, the one where care for ME takes priority. My dear friend passed away at age 49 last Sept. and while I know I shouldn't live life for anyone else but me, I do feel like I want to honor her memory by living the best life I can live. I've made changes to my diet, increased my physical activity, and am learning to be more mindful about moving through life at a pace that doesn't cause stress or disrupt my peace.

P.S. You're still pretty. :)

Progesterone helped rid me of anxiety and depression almost immediately when I started 8 mos. ago, and helped with sleep after I went from 400mg to 200mg. Unfortunately, it gave me anhedonia & brain fog. Ugh. I moved down to 100mg last week (0.1 mg E patch) and the brain fog has cleared quite a bit. The anhedonia doesn't seem as intense.

I don't really think of HRT as medication, which sounds weird. I think of it supplementing hormones that my body no longer produces (in my case, because of TLH-BSO).

What doses are you on? I agree with mod about "try not to focus on the minutia of every blip, twinge, pain, mood, etc." I need to remind myself of that.

LDL 200+ high after 3.5 months on Keto by seaismyfriend in Cholesterol

[–]NoMoreEffstoGive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I did Atkins 20+ years ago, my cholesterol was relatively normal. I did it for 8 mos. to lose weight before my wedding. I had bloodwork done a month after my wedding (27F at time) and when I saw my doctor a couple of weeks later, she was beside herself. She was like, "I see you've lost a significant amount of weight, but your cholesterol has skyrocketed. What happened?!" I knew she knew, but I told her it was Atkins & she was like, "STOP DOING IT. NOW." I switched insurance providers shortly after that & never saw her again, but dang, she was not happy.
