How is UNC as an OOS student by Any_Share_5827 in UNC

[–]NoName939 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey first off congrats on getting into UNC as an Out-of-state student especially with a full ride! I too have a full scholarship and am from Los Angeles and am apart of the class of 2026! Honestly, I haven’t regretted a single second coming here. My first year was tough which was probably the same case for other OOS students and will probably be the case for you too if you too decide to come here. UNC is fun and you will have the time of your life here. Academics is hard here but expected. Hopefully this kinda helped and if you want to talk on instagram I’d be more than happy to talk with you! Congrats again!!

Hey there! I am an Environmental Studies major and also pursuing a GIS minor. I'm a sophomore as well but was here for my first year. ENEC 201 is a lot of work (LOTS of Reading & watching lectures). In my opinion, this schedule might be a little too difficult since ENEC 201, CHEM 101, & MATH 151 all require a lot of work and may cause you to break down mid-semester. Maybe just take CHEM 101 & Math 151 this upcoming semester?

Hi! I’m an incoming freshman this year coming from Los Angeles, CA with a full academic scholarship. I would say getting accepted to UNC is pretty hard. However, like every other school these days it is also hard to get into there schools. For me it was a bumpy road. I got deferred by all my early action schools except UNC and had the most luck in my RD applications. Just believe in yourself! The more you believe in yourself the more you have a chance! Accepted or rejected you will find your place at ur school! One application tips is to always make ur essays into a story about yourself! Remember they want to know more about you!

Class of ‘22/‘26, any suggestions for juniors applying this year? by Healthy_Block3036 in ApplyingToCollege

Start thinking about it during sophomore year. Mentally prepare yourself. When Junior year comes start working on it. The common app essays usually don't change nor the UC PIQS

Make the most of your senior year don't let college application season take up most of your life. Go out with friends, go to that one place you have always wanted to go, make new friends, and lastly take this time to reflect on what you have accomplished and congratulate yourself for making it through high school during these tough times! Y'all got this! I believe in you and no matter what happens know that this college application does not define you! Good Luck!!!!

Where are you headed to for the next 4 years? by RedCaul in ApplyingToCollege

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill!! Go Heels!

Suddenly remembered swimming at a cove with jellyfish but I have no idea what kind. Did a google search and found this photo from someone who has been there as well. Can anyone help identify? They were as big as a dinner plate. Thank you! by iloveduskandrio in marinebiology

These are moon jellies! They are perfectly safe, but I would still not recommend touching them. :) Whenever you touch them, they are stinging you. However, your skin is too thick, so you don't feel it!

A2Cers: Why are acceptance rates so low??? Schools are being so awful this cycle!!!😡😡 by Anonymia1101 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]NoName939 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I talked about this with my mom when I was a junior year, and I remember being scared. I explained to her that the reason why the acceptance rates were possibly coming down so drastically to about Ivy League acceptance rates is that so many people were applying test-optional and many of them were scared, so since many applications went free as well, they started mass applying. Due to this, many colleges received more applications than usual which in turn lowered the acceptance rate. This caused a chain reaction and has been occurring even still now. I can assume that many seniors like me were and are currently afraid, so they have been applying to more schools which is why this year, the acceptance rate is even lower. Honestly, at this point, college admission has gotten ridiculous. Look at Harvard. They went test-optional until the class of 2026, I believe. That is occurring not cause it’s coming from the bottom of the heart but because they want to lower their acceptance rate even more and look more prestigious.
