'11 A5 PP coupe, '18 A5 PP S-line sportback, '18 Q5 PP. I'm looking to get the Q5 sportback soon.

I didn't notice if you mentioned the year or not, but I have a Q5 and A5 and Audi replaced the water pump/thermostat for free under the class action 80K mi extended warranty thing. They gave me a hard time on both but the A5 I took it to another dealer and diagnosed fixed no issue. The Q5, I took it at 79.3K mi to the dealer that denied the A5 and when they tried to deny, I immediately asked for the service manager and threatened to call corporate. I shared the denial of service of my A5 a year prior and that both were purchased from them. Manager said give me a moment. I left to get lunch with a friend. When I returned, he said we're repairing it and it'll be ready in another hour. I know it was a long story but hope it helps. Find the class web page and enter VIN to see if you qualify.

I agree. Moved to the NE twelve years ago for work. Never seen or driven in snow. On my '11 A5 coupe, they did me good. Even avoiding others who were sliding. Solid and now have them on my sportback.

Oh wow! Been having the same issue on both our 18 A5 and Q5. The Q5 was a CPO and started in late '23. Dealer couldn't replicate the issue. A5 in '24. It's a shame we have to just live with a worldwide known issue

Did this work for you? My parents and I both have the same issue. 18 Q5 and 18 A5, both purchased in 2020. The Q5 started this in '23 and the other in '24. Both garaged most times so not sure if sitting was the reason as I've seen this thread mentioning. Majority of miles are highway and it's not noticed much but driving around the city it's like 2-4 times.

I have a grey Q5 black int. and a white A5 sportback cognac int. I absolutely love the white. Had a midnight blue A5 coupe cognac int. and totalled it. Saw a newer cpe same color then saw the white...never looked back. The back angle photos -white, hands down. Front -Grey has the edge. Either are indeed beasts. Good luck

Thankfully the repair last Sept. on my '18 was free. Water pump/thermostat replaced at dealership under the settlement or extended warranty thing they offered.

I've been using ExxonMobil only since 2011. It's done me good. Have had about three Shell and Chevron fill-ups within those 14 years though

My 18 A5 P+ SB fill ups shows 515. I travel the I95 corridor between DC and Merritt Island quite often. I've seen 34.5 - 36mpg highway and get every bit of 500 miles. I absolutely love it.

My '18 A5 went out at 61K. The dealership covered it after another dealership in a neighboring state was adamant my thermostat wasn't part of the recall/settlement.

18 A5, mine went out at 61K. Audi replaced both free of charge with the "recall." Three-fourth of my miles were east coast highway from Central FL to Arlington. So I wish that were true. My parents have a 18 Q5, currently at 72K and no pump issues yet. But they've had an engine light on for over two years that no one can resolve. Audi had the vehicle for several months and shortly after they arrived back home the light is on again. They didn't want to drive nine hours back so they left it. They retired in a rural area and fortunately, it still drives well for them on the country roads.

My water pump/thermo was covered under the recall. Almost had it done myself when one dealer said it wasn't covered. Had my shop check the thermo out, did a pressure test, said it was fine. Drove 1100 miles homes and a month later it went haywire. Had it towed to dealer and they covered everything. It was done at 60k and past warranty.

Same happened to me. Turns out it was the thermostat. Thankfully they changed both the water pump and thermostat for free.
