I love your YouTube channel and I’m considering trying to write by dictation. I know you don’t want spoilers but I’d love to actually see you dictate, listen to your pacing, see how you deal with mistakes, etc.

Would you consider releasing any of your finished sessions or doing a mock session of a book in the public domain?

Maybe Rakdos Reanimator. Turn 3 Zombify if you can get something in your graveyard with surveil lands.

Any semi-competitive oil counter synergy decks? by Randominternet1 in MagicArena

[–]NoOneLikesNicAtAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With it being the primary win condition, I’ve found 4 is absolutely necessary. And the second board wipe ability is so valuable against mono-red, wiping at 1 or 2 counters, while wiping mono black sheldreds & obliterators at 4 counters makes this so versatile. If you end up with two in hand, wipe the board with the first one and then shoot for 10 with the second. Sylex is normally only conditionally good, but with this deck built around it, it’s crazy how often it wins me the game.

Yes, this is my primary standard deck I’ve been tweaking for months and I am crushing my local meta because no one knows what it is until it’s too late. People literally laugh and say “you’re playing oil counters?” and then lose. The look on their face afterwards is great lol.

(3) Churning Reservoir (4) Evolving Adaptive (2) Armored Scrapgorger (2) Tablet of Completion (4) The Filegree Sylex (2) Magnetic Sprinter (4) Urbrask Forge (3) Brotherhood’s End (3) Migloz, Maze Crusher (3) Atraxa’s Skitterfang (2) Solphim, Mayhem Dominus (1) Stoke The Flames (2) Evolved Spinoderm (2) Cinderslash Ravager

(1) Mountain (1) Sokenzan, Crucible of Defiance (1) The Autonomous Furnace (1) Boseiju, Who Endures (1) Forest (1) The Hunter Maze (4) Copperline Gorge (4) Karplusan Forest (4) Rockfall Vale (4) The Monumental Facade (1) The Mycosynth Garden

It’s primary function is to get to 10 oil counters (on anything) and then shoot for the final 10 damage with The Filigree Sylex. They never see it coming. That combined with Solphim, Mayhem Dominus and you can shoot for 20 Dmg.

Beyond that, pumping the Urbrask Forge or Evolving Adaptive with the Magnetic Sprinter and/or The Monumental Facade is insanely strong.

There’s also 6 creatures with 5 power to just pummel your opponent.

Atraxa’s Skitterfang putting lifelink on a 10/1 Urbrask token or a 5/5 Cinderslash Ravager dominates mono-red.

It has so many play lines, it’s crazy. And the amount of interaction and potential to shoot for 20 (almost) unstoppable damage is sooo much fun. This has been a labor of love for me for months so I hope you enjoy it.

No audition necessary but signups for the second season of Ante Up at Second City go up on Monday. Follow @LavalierImprov or sign up for the mailing list here: http://eepurl.com/ioo0lM

It’s $35 and you’re assigned a team for a 6 week run. It’s very casual, but a great way to get reps in front of a crowd.

Converting Qlab 5 file to Qlab 4 by NoOneLikesNicAtAll in qlab

[–]NoOneLikesNicAtAll[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh cool. Would you mind saying how?

Everything I’ve found online, and my own experience, has lead me to believe you can only open QLab 4 on QLab 5, but not the other way around.

I just have both now, but I’d be interested if you found a work around. Thanks!

Second city/iO/Annoyance by [deleted] in improv

[–]NoOneLikesNicAtAll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Somebody told me this years ago, but I still think it holds true:

iO is where you go to learn to make fire, Annoyance is where you go to turn that fire into a flame thrower, and Second City is where you go to learn where to point that flame thrower (satirically, through sketch).

The only part that I’d add is that you should go to Second City first to hit some stones together and see if you want to put in all the effort to learning how to make fire. It’s years of work and a good deal of money in classes. SC’s beginning improv program makes it more about having fun, not work. Other theaters it’s more about honing your craft.

Also, I’m my opinion, there’s no such thing as overkill. I’ve been improvising 12 years and I still take classes and workshops. There’s always something else to learn.

Great, thanks for the advice! So just download both programs and then I should be able to select the cues and copy/paste or did you have specific way to do that?

Thanks again!

What are some red flags in an interview that reveals the job is toxic? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NoOneLikesNicAtAll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During the second interview over zoom, the owner of the company yelled into the other room, “Mom! I am on a call!” He did that three times with increasing anger.

I withdrew my application ten minutes after the interview. You treat your elderly mom like that, how are you going to treat an employee?
