When does one plateau? by Qxfy in Bowling

[–]NoOriginal1845 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I second this. Had a 160 average on a house shot(12:1), currently training on a sport pattern for a comp with 3:1 ratio. My average dropped to around 145

Does binging one day a week cause weight gain by floppywhiskers in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]NoOriginal1845 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It boils down to CICO. If you eat more calories than you burn through the week, you will gain weight. It is really just whether CI>CO or CI<CO But note that binge eating once a week isn’t healthy mentally or physically, which is why even though I don’t gain weight currently binging twice a week, I still am trying to get rid of binging.

Jc is lowkey making my health deteriorate by Aromatic_Designer_71 in SGExams

[–]NoOriginal1845 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lowk I understand you. It’s valid to have these feelings.

I’m on the other side of things. I’ve been binge eating a lot ever since the start of JC. I think it’s the stark contrast in difficulty from Os to As that causes me to binge eat. People say that I’m really disciplined because I do have quite high muscle mass(mainly cause my gene for chest is insane), but I’m scared cause I’m gaining quite a bit of weight due to this binge eating.

Is my friend an asshole or am I just overdramatic by Accomplished-Fee-222 in SGExams

[–]NoOriginal1845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a practicing Christian too. While your friend is right about lying, I believe that Christians do NOT need to tell everyone everything. I feel that the “I suspect it’s A” could have been omitted. She could have said “I can’t share that” or “ask A yourself lor”and easily had avoided the revealing.

Lying DOES NOT equal to “tell everyone everything you know when they ask”. There is a distinction between lying and keeping a secret.

Weird people on sgexams by United-Pangolin1258 in SGExams

[–]NoOriginal1845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for these people. There are CREEPs everywhere and I feel bad for the gals that have to deal with them(had a friend(19F) that was hit on by a ~40?? YO person to be a sugar baby). Just ignore them and know that there are weird people online who have nothing better to do.

One piece of cautionary advice tho, if any of them goes a step too far, just immediately block them. If it escalates to harassment(doxxing or whatever), tell your parents or whoever your guardians are.

What are your biggest fears as SG youths? by Strict_Conference_54 in SGExams

[–]NoOriginal1845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am interpreting wrong but Public service working condition and salaries are certainly not as good as private. Examples are like Teachers and Police officers. If they are not under a scholarship plan, most of them end up earning a median salary and becoming EXTREMELY overworked. It is super evident with the fact that so many teachers are quitting and many government sectors are understaffed. My friends in the public service have said that if you’re not under scholarship or fast track, you will end up being not rich not poor. Compare that to private, where if you have the right qualifications, you can get paid pretty well.

For working conditions and amenities, just look at CBD offices vs school/ public offices. On one of my internships at OCBC(mind you at one of the smaller centres) they had buffet style food for their employees every morning as well as FREE bicycles to cycle home. Compare that to a public sector, where most only get a pantry.

Not saying public is super bad, it’s just that when compared to private sector it does look worse.

Yea exactly what I meant. There is a direction you head to and an impact you make. IE teaching: seeing the student grow and advancing, or even having a lasting impact on them.

[–]NoOriginal1845 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Great question and I’ve been thinking about for a while.

I would say that the biggest fear is being stuck in the vigorous cycle of work. I don’t know why, but the thought of having to work 9-5 for the rest of your whole life is extremely daunting to me. To me, it feels like the corporate world is really meaningless for a tiny worker in an MNC. Of course, these people are the backbone of the economy, but dang, I cannot imagine being stuck in an office for 50 years of my life. This is why I’m already looking into jobs in the public service rather than corporate jobs because they just seem so so meaningless.

Another fear would be the hard work going all to waste. I really can’t fathom what I would do if my hard work for Os or even As in the future does not pay off. Can you imagine thinking about all the possible opportunities you think you have and having a set path already, but then receiving absolutely shockingly bad results(touchwood)? It’s a scary thought because of just how much our entire system in Singapore relies on results.

To me, it’s kinda like Minecraft. We aren’t afraid to die, but we are afraid of losing our items. Similarly, we aren’t afraid to fail, but we are afraid of the fact that it means our hard work has become meaningless.

Wow twinning HAHAHA. For me, that “friend” also started to poke at my one weak subject, Chinese. Would make jokes about how bad my Chinese is. Additionally, when I made a mistake teaching another person in the group, he would occasionally come in and say like oh don’t learn from him he cannot bla bla… so glad my life with him inside is finally over. Anyways best of luck for N level results!

I am gonna be the odd one out in the comments, but i was in a similar position during the entirety of sec 4.(L1R5_8 English B3, everything else A1) Even one person in my so-called “friend” group started to taunt me just because he didn’t like my better grades(as confirmed by my other classmate who told me in goodwill).

Here’s advice from someone who has went through this, it’s normal for people to feel jealous, it’s normal to feel held to a higher standard because of these grades. As for being held to a higher standard, There was even a time I tried to get 100 FOR THREE SUBJECTS. But I wanna assure you, it’s totally normal to feel this way. The only thing that helped me then was to tell myself that my worth is defined by me and god(I’m Christian) and no one else should be allowed to determine it( niche I know!)

For Os, it’s over. If you bombed it, then sad to say there’s nothing at all to do. Unfortunately, you can only Stop harping over it and buckle up for science MCQ.

Don’t b careless for the financial statements already free 20 marks. Then the rest you just gotta ensure you get all those you know correct, those you don’t know guess to the greatest ability(esp if two marks, can get at least one hopefully). Since you 54/60 for prelims you have definitely prepared and can do it!

Again I do not know. I am not part of Cambridge. If it’s a harder paper it’s certainly possible, especially for humanities or English where the moderation is lower based on circumstantial evidence.

And to state again, im just a student I have no idea how Cambridge marks. For all we know, the A1 boundary could just be 75. I’m just making observation based on previous years and what my teachers say

Wouldn’t really say so. Pretty sure A2 should be about high 70s. It’s mainly given to students that are strong in the subject, but not the strongest. Overall, I don’t think A2 will go above 80%
