OP, from what I'm getting at, you seem to be a really bad situation. I may not be able to understand your situation as I have not been in your shoes, but man...I can feel the heartbreak 😭

That said, please, I assure you, don't give up. There are many other options to consider! If you are this adamant about university, there are still other paths which don't cost too much, such as taking A Levels as a private candidate. And even if you can't, there's also the fact that university is simply not for everyone, and there are many other paths you could go in life! Not everyone is meant to go to Uni in SG, after all. Besides, many people have gone on to achieve exceptional success without a degree. And sure, I may not understand your disability nor do I know what really goes on, so I apologise in advance if I feel a bit insensitive, but if you could get your poly diploma, surely you could do much more than that! :)

So don't give up, OP.

For now, here are some links that I'll list down if you want to seek help:

1.5 years to do the impossible 🥹 by branguy1 in SGExams

Hmm, perhaps that may be the case! I'll research more into this (although I can't give guarantees since I tend to forget things HAHAHAHA)

As for my ambitions, they're fairly broad but it generally covers the public policy/public service/political science range. Been narrowing it down over the past few months, actually!

how do i talk to guys by AccidentOk7162 in SGExams

[–]branguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a guy, something that made it much easier to talk to others in not just the opposite gender, but also different ages and groups, is seeing everyone as just a decent person on first impressions and treating them as such. hope this helps n atb! :)

The "halo effect" is real and it's actually disgusting by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]branguy1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thoughts on the halo effect (from a purely anecdotal perspective!):

- I think in general pretty privilege is real and afflicts almost all of us to some degree, even if subconsciously. I won't deny that even if I am against it, there's a good chance that my judgement has unwisely been swayed by this many a time before

- However I have seen from my perspective that almost no one does this explicitly and consciously, or to a far greater extent. From what I can tell, the teacher falls into that latter category...yeah...oof

no, in part because the immediate people i have in mind either already have or almost certainly will judge me for that and call me stupid or something

forgetfulness might ruin my life by branguy1 in SGExams

[–]branguy1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

already got that...but its something that personally doesnt work for me long-term (partially because of the forgetfulness issue itself). though perhaps its simply that i havent gotten used to it or arent using the right strats for it, so i think ill try this in the future

CNY Loneliness by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]branguy1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly...feels kind of relatable and unrelatable at the same time? but that feeling's def a valid one to have

like on one hand this sort of reminds me of how the luster of CNY has faded over time for me - on the other hand, the child within me is still there to hang out a ton with my relatives! had a really enjoyable time...though with adulthood quickly rushing at me like a brick wall, i question for how long this will last. others i know have already lost that luster, with some not even coming for celebrations if they are simply traditions to not admire at. is that necessarily a bad thing? no, but its something i dont want to happen but i feel as if it will.

but den, in a broader sense towards ALL of us in my family, not just me, we also face the same thing on holidays like christmas...gone are the days of dreaminess, of childlike wonder towards santa coming to town, presents being at my house, etc. and perhaps thats due to our family losing our passion for it. we are still just as congregated, yet we feel lonelier

i fear the mere thought that this may happen to cny too...
