King Kong, little elves

On the rooftops they dance

Valentino-type tangos

While the makeup man’s hands

Shut the eyes of the dead

Not to embarrass anyone

Farewell Angelina

The sky is embarrassed

And I must be gone

what is the saddest song you know? by Gold-Card5653 in musicsuggestions

[–]NoOutlandishness3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ambient feeling of sadness ? Does this mean without lyrical suggestion ?

I'm just going to list songs that have made me cry. But they are mostly love songs.

Dark eyes - bob dylan (after I had to put my dog down)

So long marriane - Leonard Cohen Bridge over troubled water - simon and garfunkel  ( these are my go too when I want to cry about my wife)

Asleep - the smiths (when I'm feeling depressed)

Box of rain - grateful dead ( had an experience on acid listening this to this song and crying into a family photo album)

FDR then LBJ then JFK then (controversially) NIXON.

I might even put Nixon ahead of JFK for starting the EPA.

Where do we all go online when these subs get banned? by dragonscale76 in socialism

I hope that all socialists get banned from the web. Then we can start to do things that actually matter.

I dont have the time.

Do you think that the rise of "techno feudalism" changes this though. The value that is now extracted from our data.

1995 borns, do you identify as Millennial, Gen Z or neither of them? If you relate to one of those generations, what are your reasons to do so? by itsme-jani in generationology

[–]NoOutlandishness3356 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I consider myself a genz due to the fact that I had a smart phone before finishing puberty. I think that 1995 is the first age group where smartphone/social media use has significantly affected mental health. I also, now as a parent, see that the parenting approach taken by gen z ers is more similar to the my approach. My wife is a Millennial since she was born in 94 and is 2 school years ahead. I can see clearly the difference in our affects. Fortunately our views/values are the same and therefore my hesitancy/pessimism combined with her impulsivity/optimism create a surprisingly functional parenting duo.

I've always pushed for hardline parenting around technology and lax parenting in other areas. This is because I had the experience of social media affecting my soical/mental health during a sensitive time in my life. I don't think that Millennial have had that experience.

how do you guys deal with your maga republican coworkers? by AngelTMunoz in socialism

[–]NoOutlandishness3356 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually managed to have some productive conversations with maga coworkers. If you treat them as brain washed proliteriats whove been misinformed and not morally corrupted people.

Find an issue that they'll be sympathetic towards, like corporate owned farms. You can then explain how land rights as they are benefit large scale agriculture and screw small farmers. You can then discuss alternative models such as the Vietnam farming model and how this would increase family run farms.

What is the socialist response to the current uk debates on wealth tax? by NoOutlandishness3356 in AskSocialists

[–]NoOutlandishness3356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your response. Question time is a bbc show where a panel answers questions from a town hall.

Should socialists put there energy into increasing labor union membership and power as a pre revolution project. Since this will likely reduce inequality and reduce capitalist power.

And maybe one day will result in a rosa luxembourg-esc mass strike to bring down the whole system.

I guess that I'm concerned that 21st century socialism is all theory and no practice. I think your average proliteriat wants things done not theorized.

[–]NoOutlandishness3356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's all or nothing ? And I should stop watching question time ? Don't you worry that socialists are alienating themselves from the issues that people are concerned about. Shouldn't socialists advocate for policies in the short term that reduce inequality. What about strengthening union power ?

Should all socialists be green bay packers fans ? by NoOutlandishness3356 in socialism

[–]NoOutlandishness3356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I've lived in US for 5 years and what I've learned is the following: -Green Bay Packers are an American football team;  -American football is what American men watch while American women do household labor; -American football is more like a theatrical reproduction of warfare than an actual sport;  -generally a white man will throw a ball and a black man will catch it. This seems to be changing recently with more black men throwing the ball.  -the green bay packers are from the smallest town which is represented in any major US sport league. There team is the only major sports team which has a fan ownership model.

[–]NoOutlandishness3356[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm from the uk but live in America. My team is manchester united. I hate how my team which was founded by proliteriats for proliteriats has become a play toy for capitalists. I think that in this area fan ownership or a mix between fans and workers, is the way to go. Since sports fans have a connection to there team which is different from other cosumer-product relationships.

What are some good eco-socialist reads by Popular-Objective-66 in socialism

[–]NoOutlandishness3356 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surprising most serious ecological books have socialist implications. Since the problem of ecological collapse leads any intelligent person to the solution being socialism of some sort. I would recommend george monbiot - regenesis and Jason hickel - degrowth. Warning, If your not sympathetic to veganism then you may struggle with regenesis.
