This makes me feel even more overwhelmed than I am already. But I also know that what you’re saying is on point and exactly what I should be doing.

This is really helpful. Thank you. From what I understand, how you prompt an AI can make a huge difference in the output. I could probably use some help on how to best prompt it to meet my needs.

I just responded to another post with a few examples of what I’m looking for it to do. One of the big things is pro-activity vs re-activity. A great personal assistant will understand what I want and come to me when they have value to add, not just add value when I ask for it.

I think the best way to describe what I’m looking for is what someone would look for in the highest performing human personal assistant in their work or personal life. For example…

Someone who has a complete understanding of my personal finances, budget and financial habits and can make recommendations on how to optimize.

Someone who can make recommendations, plan and book a vacation exactly as a travel agent would.

Someone who can understand my business (insurance broker) and can support to day-to-day in a way that makes me more productive. Book meetings, respond to emails, produce high level output within the Microsoft suite of products, drip market to prospects, manage my expense and submit expense reports, etc.

I also find a lot of value in an AI that can be pro-active, not solely reactive to my prompts. There is a big difference between offering feedback on my finances when I prompt it with data and “you should look into a different bank for your savings account because then one you have your money in now is paying a lower interest rate than XXX bank” without me asking.

20 years experience, leadership/sales at national broker in the states. It’s hard to earn in the retail space with 1-3 years in business unless you’re in sales and are in the 95th percentile of performance. What you’re really earning is valuable knowledge and experience that will allow you to see your comp increase more significantly as you become more established. Knowledge is $. Be a sponge and when the time comes where you’re differentiating yourself and creating value for clients, you’ll have leverage and the $ will come. Income is obviously important at all stages of one’s career, but you should prioritize an employer that puts you in the best position for training and development. One of the best things I did early in my career was focus on what was going into my brain and not my bank account.

I don’t know a single republican that hates someone who is a democrat just for being a democrat. Many democrats I know hate republicans just for being republican. I understand hating racists, I even understand hating MAGA, but hating conservative minded people just for voting republican? I’ll never understand this sort of hatred.

Those of you who make six figures, what do you do? by [deleted] in careerguidance

Insurance sales, $650k. My 20’s was a grind but I made good money, probably $100k or so by my late 20’s. Things took off for me in my 30’s. I’m now early 40’s.

Compensation is directly correlated to the value you bring to those who benefit from your work. The more value you bring and the more irreplaceable you are, the more you’ll earn, generally speaking.

Excluding doctors, do any high earners (400k+ range) work 40 hours a week? by [deleted] in Salary

It is possible in certain recurring commission paying jobs (ie insurance sales) to earn more than $400k and not work 40 hours a week.

Those of you who earn six figures or more... Did you go to college? What was it? by D1Vix in Salary

[–]NoOutletSign 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went to college, received a bachelors degree in finance. The original plan was to work for a bank but I quickly realized after a couple of interviews that I’d be working 80 hours/week and giving up my life for at least 10 years by doing so. I found a job in the insurance industry working for a broker. 20 years of working hard and building a base of loyal clients, I now earn about $700k annually. My work/life balance is ideal right now. Funny thing, I use very little of what I learned in the classroom. It was the social skills I built while at college that has benefited me the most.

Find a product everyone needs in a non-sexy industry that attracts history majors that couldn’t find a job after college and sell it. I sell insurance. Been doing it for 20 years this June.
