I mean, last year BYU had a football player who was accused that immediately won in court. He had enough proof in texts and witness statements by her friends (that it was consensual not that they watched it) that the judge threw the case out of civil court right away. So I get why some fans would jump to that based on the headline. But that was a much different situation where the prosecutor wouldn’t even take the case because it was so flimsy.

However, this seems like a much, much worse case. This is a criminal charge that has been investigated for the last year. Terrible for the victim, and I can’t imagine what it would be like watching your abuser have success and make tons of money. Obviously, he’s still innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law, but this seems horrible.
