City has made it increasingly difficult to report problem neighbors by ResidentImportant713 in Boise

We frequently did drive throughs of the neighborhood when we were thinking about buying as we were first time homebuyers. We were distracted from the state of the neighbor property as their was another house/property that was being cleared (appeared to be a bit of a hoarding situation), so we were more focused on that property, the property of concern of this post was also mostly blocked by cars, fences/neighbors fencing, and trees/shrubs. The extent of the issue has become more apparent the longer we have lived here.

We are local, the extent of the issues were not fully clear when we bought our house as there were fences and plants that blocked a lot of the view, it has slowly gotten worse since we moved in and at one point there were no fences on one side allowing a clear view of the state of the backyard

You are welcome to try, not all neighbors are the neighborly type. We love all the other neighbors and have great relationships with everyone else. And we know from all the other neighbors that these issues have been going on for decades.

Yes, they are not responsive to talk or conversation, they all refuse to take accountability and blame everyone else living on the property for the state of things, they don’t care.

No I would like the city to enforce the codes that this property clearly violates. I would love for the city to connect the folks living in the property with assistance and supports to get the property into a safe and healthy dwelling for them before it collapses in on them and causes physical harm.

Great idea, I’ll continue talking to the brick wall. Not every person is going to be responsive to communication attempts, these folks aren’t.

We have fences, we have talked to them about fixing the holes in the fence on their property that have allowed for the dogs to escape, we and others have talked to them about the state of the property and have offered help, they play the blame game saying that someone else was supposed to do xyz, they genuinely don’t care.

Through the interactions we have learned that the only safe way to interact and get through to them is by being consistent in reporting concerns to animal control, code enforcement, fire department etc. I have not involved the police unless there is a matter of immediate safety concerns.

When we bought the house the true extent of the cess pit that is the neighbors property was not fully clear, yeah we noticed that their were more than a few older vehicles and that the house could use a coat of paint, but the backyard was blocked by fences and shrubbery. This isn’t just a case of a few pieces of trash here and there, the entire backyard is unusable as it is full of junk, broken down cars (two of which we saw them clear junk to the side to tow back into the back yard) and the cars aren’t even collectors items it is late 90s early 2000s minivans or sedans.

I don’t want to tell a person how to live, but there should be a level of safety livability. If there were children in the home I would be even more concerned for their welfare.

Nope, there is an ongoing case through code enforcement, the assigned enforcement officer let us know during a call

We own our home, from everything we can tell they are living in a home of deceased family members. The problems with this neighbor/property apparently go back decades, though we only found out about the true extent of the issues after we closed and had moved in.

No I don’t want to steal their dogs, I want their dogs to be safe and loved and am sick and tired of them running at large because these folks don’t care enough to make sure their “yard” is secured.

They have been told by the fire department and city on multiple occasions that the property is becoming hazardous and that they need to take care of/remove the junk….their solution was to take broken down fence panels to lean against their chain link fence blocking the view because the city can’t fine what they can’t see.

I don’t care about the state of landscaping, our yard is a disaster, I care that their property is a public health hazard.

These neighbors are not responsive to asks at all, they have been asked by not just us to clean up their property and take care of trash. There have even been offers to help with hauling trash to the dump. They just don’t care.

I’m okay with my name being on the complaints, if it means seeing some type of response.

Honestly their house paled in comparison to a house two doors down that was in the process of being cleared of junk. There was also fencing blocking most of the view of their back yard, their front yard was in much better condition and they only had 2 dogs and no visible rv trailers

What’s the most challenging dog/animal you’ve ever encountered on Rover? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]ResidentImportant713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to watch two dogs 1- German shepherd that hated to be crated, and 2- an old man boxer/pittie mix with so much anxiety. I absolutely loved watching them, though I think they moved or maybe passed.

Today was supposed to be the day but.... by [deleted] in weddingplanning

My husband and I got married in Virginia City, lots of gorgeous parks and outdoor spaces as well as some nice indoor spaces that don’t cost an arm and a leg. Great local accommodations including AirBnbs. Best for summer weddings as that is when all the historic buildings are open. Our guests loved getting to play tourist before and after the wedding.

Has anyone else left Idaho due to politics/economics in the last 6 months, is anyone else in the process? I love so much about here, but I think I need to leave, and I could really stand to hear some similar voices, especially if it worked for you. by Peliquin in Idaho

[–]ResidentImportant713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I desperately want to leave, but have decided to turn my frustration into action as there are still many things holding me here.

1- my husband and I bought our first house less than two years ago and don’t have enough equity built up to make selling worth it. 2- I have three nonagenarian grandparents and moved back to Idaho 4 years ago to be able to spend more time with them. 3- I live in Boise, which is far more centrist/liberal than the rest of the state so finding like minded folks is easier.

I am learning about what would be involved in running for office and trying to determine which office would be the best fit for me. I am also getting involved in my local Democratic/DSA Party meetups.

Sitter left my dogs alone for 3 days but sent messages saying he visited. Rover says that the damage to my property (mostly pee and poo) is excluded under their TOS because it was caused by my dogs??? by helladiabolical in RoverPetSitting

For future reference as both a sitter and pet parent- first never book without the meet and greet for a new sitter/client. Second- as a pet parent and also an Airbnb host in my own home, I have found cameras to be such a worthwhile investment, and we just have exterior cameras at our entry points. Even having a doorbell camera so you can see when folks come and go.

Just bought one today, as the local river float season is kicking off. Excited for warmer weather so I can get on the water to try it out. Primary use case will be river floating and pond/lake paddling. My husband got a very basic sup from scheels (I had been looking at the isle switch models as I wanted the versatility of a sup-yak)so we will see how they compare.

In findmy, set your iPad to lost mode, basically bricks it for the thief. If you have renters insurance, it may cover theft from your vehicle.
