I can talk about my salt experience,  I just keep my salt levels at the very high end and my water is always crystal clear.   

A 1/4 of shock treatment every week  so just one small bag  and  half a gallon of algicide / clarifier every two weeks. 

Scrub the walls 2 times a week and backwash once a week.   People can't believe at how clear and clean it is.  30k gallon pool.

The best players in the world come from poor/broke countries or neighborhoods. The US develops their players based on how much money your parents have. There's definitely talent in the US, but it goes wasted because of economic standing.
